Reign DT

When is this going to start, and how regularly do participants post? I am considering joining but don't have much time, also I have never seen the show.

If I did join I might make a character from Spain: a so-called representative or advisor or something, but in reality a spy.

@EloquentDragon you'd be better off making a representative from England, not really from Spain.

This SB will start when people start claiming characters and it's up to you how often you post. I really wish people would start claiming...

Well since Reign looks to be heavily fictionalized... we can perhaps fudge things by one or two years. Henry II of France was killed shortly after the end of the 60-year-long war between Spain and France in Italy, he actually died from a lance splinter during the celebration of the Cateau-Cambresis peace treaty. As Reign season 1 (where Mary of Scots is married to Henry) is set in 1558, one year before this event, I imagine at this time the peace negotiations would already be underway, with councilors from both countries meeting at each other's courts. Relationships between the countries are, however, still quite messy and/or strained. That's where this guy would come in. He's supposed to be working out peace negotiations for Spain but, of course, as the peace between France and Spain only lasted for about a year or so anyway, obviously Spain's intentions are a bit more dubious with this peace-business, and so my character would mainly be working as a spy for Phillip II, see. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Vaucelles

Also, for my second character, I'd like to have her be an Aztec girl (or perhaps Mestizo), "servant" (essentially a slave) to this Spain dude that he picked up while visiting the colonies in the New World. These characters would be fun for me since I speak Spanish and am most comfortable with the Spanish Empire during this era, as opposed to other countries' histories.

And by claiming characters do you mean: the people who have been accepted here on the DT need to make character pages?

Not just the people on the DT who have been "Accepted" anybody can make a character page!

Oh guys, by the way, if you want more than 2 characters (one boy and one girl) if the major characters aren't already claimed, you can do either a male character or any of the major important characters not already claimed, male or female. I just want to make sure we don't have too many women and not enough men.

Okay. Here's the deal

There are lots of characters that have yet to be claimed so I'm going to say that everybody can now claim as many characters as you want. However, I do ask that if you take on another you consider including one of the following key players
Priority
-King Henry
-Queen Catherine
-Prince Francis (Mary's Betrothed)

Other ideas
-Mary's Ladies in Waiting, 3 max
-Servants or ladies in waiting for the queen
-A Lord or a Lady
--Diane de Portiers (Henry's mistress)

If nobodoy else claims key characters by next week (Monday or Tuesday) I will claim some of the more important ones to balance out things and have a list of NPCs created. You can use these characters in whatever way you wish, just make sure you let me know so I can take them off the list. These characters can be killed, used for scandal, etc.

Oh and guys, this may be a storybook where you might want to cycle out characters. Like if you want your character to die and then claim a new one (like if a Lord or a Lady comes to court and stirs up scandal)
