Plot In a distant future... tensions between countries are high. The Japanese are in the first steps of developing animal-human technology for the sole purpose of allowing people to change their appearance for fashion trends and social status. But when the US gets wind of the project, they see a much bigger picture and steal it for themselves to advance the technology and create an army of super soldiers. Taking the blueprints and research for a prototype that was never built, they tweak and advance the technology until they come up with the first working experiment: a chair which-using a mixture of radiation and a special serum-changes the DNA of those who use it to give them the ability the morph into a specific animal. While some of the original scientists were killed upon retrieval of the research, some were captured and forced to help them develop the technology. The chair and Morphing Formula is created in a Top Secret laboratory, tweaking the original research to make the formula stronger, better, and more powerful. The laboratory and it's experiment is so secret in fact, that they couldn't risk a medical trial or telling people they've hired as lab rats the truth about their experiment. No, they have to be much more secretive... Twelve high school sophomore students get the opportunity of a life time when their science class-and only their class-gets to go on a field trip to a working laboratory. Little do they know, their science teacher Mr. Neil is one of the scientists working on the Animorph project and is using his job as a science teach as cover. And little do they know, they're going to become test subjects on the project. And if everything goes according to plan... they may be the first recruits in what the US hopes will be their new army of super soldiers. But the Japanese find out who took their research... and what they're using it for. Being one of the US's biggest enemies in this distant future, they realize Japan will be one of the first targets of the super army. So, the Japanese secret service burns down the lab and kills all the scientists they could find in the hopes of ending USA's attempt to create a super army and possibly take over the world... starting with Japan. As if the ability to morph into animals isn't enough for these twelve teens to handle, Mr. Neil has gone missing-leaving them to figure everything out for themselves and now they feel themselves being watched. By who? They're not sure... The reality? Japan discovers the experiment had already been started and have set out to hunt down and kill the test subjects while the USA is trying to recover them and use their blood to continue the experiments, because they're the only piece of the experiment that survived. And they're not the only ones to catch onto these teens... A rebel organization is watching them, deciding whether to kill them, help them, or try to recruit them. While working to figure out their new found abilities and trying their best to stay out of the crosshairs of these mysterious organizations, the biggest challenge of all may be deciding who they can trust... or if they can trust anyone at all. Communication The Animorphers have discovered they can communicate telepathically. They call this "thoughtspeak". It allows them to talk to each other in their minds whether they're in human form or in animal form. But only the Animorphers can hear it. Family members can't receive it and other animals are oblivious. Ability To Morph and Partial Morph When in transition and their DNA is changing... they may have issues with partial morphing such as getting animal fangs, eyes, claws, tails, etc... that they can't control as well as fully morphing against their will. Once the transition is completed... they will be able to control it better and can only fully-morph. They cannot enhance their senses (hearing, sight, etc...) while they're in human form. However, when emotions are heightened, they may have trouble controlling their new abilities and have some issues with glowing eyes, growling, claws and fangs coming through. *salutes* Don't you worry Lefty, this SB ain't never gonna die. Until a resolution for our characters is met, that is, and that won't happen for a while. With Blaspherica, Noelle, and Hattable gone and Night, Sunshine, and Fantasy busy with life, of course the activity's going to drop a little. But I think we all love this SB and its characters too much to ever let it die.

Steggy's probably posting next, yes. I'd really like to be able to post a second time this month to fulfill the February Captain's Challenge to the max.

Wow, that was quite the post! It was really interesting to see some past stuff with Michael and how he met/knew Charlotte and Gwen.

What is your plan for Jackson and the file? Did you plan with someone to pick up where your cliffhanger left off?

Basically, Jackson is the "spy" and he wants the file. I was thinking he might be working for Mr. Neil, a puppet or something. At first Jackson was going to be just a NPC, then I got to thinking:

What if I use Michael's best friend as an enemy?

Unfortunately, I think I'm officially leaving this SB.

I leave in a week and I have no idea what life will look like during and after the trip.
I trust you guys to take care of Jinx, and I'm going to keep reading the posts because I love this story. I'm sad to leave, because it's been so fun and everyone's characters are great. Thank you for such a positive experience, everyone! I apologize for leaving, but thank you for understanding! You are all excellent writers and lovely people.

@Steggy ah, ok. I see. Just throwing thoughts out there, would it make sense for Mr. Neil to have a spy/puppet the day after/of the bombing? He was lucky to escape. Would he have had time to figure out a plan B?
