Sorry if this is in the wrong topic! :D

I use Robot Koch's songs and Antonin Dvorak (weird combo, I know. :P)

What songs do you use when you're writing?
John. Queer guy, writer, fan of stuff.

Basically anything that shuts my mind off and lets me focus.

Sometimes this is the television. Sometimes it is instrumentals, but rarely. Most often, it is some form of pop or alternative music.

I'm particularly fond of 30 Seconds to Mars' This is War.

Indie/Alternative is my favorite music genre for writing. I use the iheart radio app when I'm writing, too.

If you're into indie and alternative, and if you haven't checked them out already, you should listen to my favorite band Youth Lagoon!
I reccomend Year of Hibernation as a starting point.

I use Mitch Benn just before writing, because I write lyrics and he helps with the verse patterns, but during Mike Oldfield, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Yann Tiersen, and Murray Gold all write amazing incidental music. Stuff with no distracting words.
You know that studded leather armour in films? Nobody wore that. I mean, how would metal studs improve leather armour?

Stuff like The Crow, The Owl and the Dove really helps, just because it feels like a story. Seriously, go listen to that.

Instrumental all the way. I love epic soundtracks, everything by Two Steps from Hell. My brain creates a vivid scene based on the mood and what the title of the song implies. If I listen to music with lyrics, it clashes with the words I'm trying to put together in my mind.

I prefer a flowing song with lyrics that are good, but don't demand my attention every second. So I listen to a song called Awake, by Josh Groban. And I will listen to that song for hours on end, while I write. Of course I do listen to tons of others, just most of them tend to be like that. :)

It's also my alarm song. hehe. Awake.

I usually use classical music and occasionally Josh Groban. xD Mostly Mozart and Vivaldi and Mozart for Classical, and I listen to War at Home for Josh Groban. Helps my writing flow more, to listen to classical though. xD ;)
