Songwriting Contest #1

Hello everyone! I have decided to create a contest for songwriters.

Due to the fact that I'm a singer, I've been trying to write my own songs, but it's not working, because I can't write songs. So I decided to see if making a songwriting contest would work instead of hopelessly trying to write my own songs.

I'm going to hold more of these contests in the future, so if you don't win this time, you should keep trying!

The rules are as follow:

1) It must be an original song. No parodies please!
2) No screamo or any type of metal music. *I can't do screamo, and I am not a fan of metal music. Sorry screamo and metal fans.*
3) Deadline is July 31st at 11:59PM CDT.

I'll be the only judge, since I'm going to be singing the song.

Finally, the prizes for the winner:

1) 500 points
2) I'll make a video of me singing your song and post it on my YouTube channel.

I'll certainly make an effort. I have one in the works as we speak.

However, the logistics seem a bit unclear. Will you decide the notes of the song and how it's sung? If you want us to make the melody, how do you want us to communicate that to you?

I have realized thst not everything is clear. I just need song lyrics. I'll figure out the notes and stuff, but if you guys feel like you want to figure out the notes for your song on your own, feel free to do just so. Just don't make the notes too high, okay? I'm an alto.

If you want it to be a slow song or a fast song, make sure to include that when you submit your song.

Also, I forgot to mention a few things:

1) You can only submit one song per contest.
2) If you've already submitted a song to a different contest, please don't submit the same song to this contest.
3) In order go submit your entry, you need to PM your song and any info about the song *if you find it necessary to include any information about it* to me.

If when you say style you mean genre, everything but any type of metal and screamo.

If you don't mean genre, then I'll need you to define style.

Quick questions...
1) In terms of copyright etc. will they still be intellectual property of the writer?
2) If I won, would it be fine for me to sing the song to the tune you wrote? I'm not like a musician or anything, but I am kinda egocentric...
3) A lot of my lyrics are Doctor Who fan lyrics... So do you like Doctor Who?
4) Could I publish the work and PM you a link?

1. It'll be like a songwriter for an artist, but you'll still have rights to the lyrics.
2. I don't write tunes either. I improvise. I've never sung a song that was written for me to sing. I've only done covers. This is kind of like an experiment.
3. I don't really watch it, but I like what I've seen.
