Brief personal backstory: Mireya comes from a family of Turkish immigrants and was subject to a lot of hostility growing up in NYC post 9/11. The worst of these hostilities was the murder of her father, who was coming home from work when he was the victim of an islamophobic hate crime. His death was underinvestigated by the police and the perpetrator was not only given a light sentence, but got out of it early. Mireya, then 16, was radicalized by her rage, believing she didn't owe any respect to a country and a justice system that treats minorities horribly. Shoplifting was the first crime she participated in out of rebelliousness, but it led to her meeting Andy doing the same thing, and was eventually a gateway to gang work in Boston with Sparrow.
Appearance: Mireya looks like a paint catalogue for the color blue. Her dyed hair (shoulder length and slightly curly) is the most obvious part of her appearance, but her clothes are always in varying shades of blue as well. She is on the short side, but decently muscled and lean, with dark eyes and warm olive brown skin.
Personality: A bit of a wild card, lively, teasing, flirty, witty, reckless and risk-taking, seeks out fun, doesn't care about authorities and rules, unashamed, detached from reality but secretly longs to have a stronger connection to it, has a dead serious side that sometimes flips like a switch unexpectedly.
Other: Mireya still follows Islam, but is rather pick and choose with the principles that she practices-- she prays five times a day and fasts for Ramadan, for example, but doesn't (only) eat halal food, doesn't wear a hijab, and drinks heavily. She no longer speaks to her mother.
