Return to The Headquarters

Creator: winterwolf0100
Roleplay: The Headquarters
Nickname: Lloyd Cooper

Sit down. I'm Commander Furia, head of HQ. If you get this job, you'll take orders from me. Understood?

Your Response: *British accent* Understood, Commander.

Hmm. Closer to the microphone. State your name for the record.

Your Name: Lieutenant Colonel Lloyd Cooper

Okay. First mistake of this job. We don't use our actual names here. Give me an alias.

Your Alias: ...Ivor

Really? That's the best you can come up with? No, no, we're moving forward. What makes you qualified for this job?

Your Abilities: I have the ability to absorb the damage of an attack. It weakens and tires me but it never injures me unless I've reached my limit. When I go over the amount I can take, I'm knocked out and vulnerable, but with caution that can usually be avoided.
Strengths: I have the basic training of any British army soldier, including but not limited to weapons and personal defense training.
Weaknesses: If someone does not help to back me after I absorb the damage of an attack, then I could be considered defenseless in my state of unconsciousness, though if a team is protecting one another, that shouldn't be an issue in the field.

Hmm. Okay, so what are you planning on wearing to the battlefield? Nothing ridiculous. I'm not going to waste my resources on a flashy suit just for you to die on the first mission.

Your Appearance: I'll wear what is needed in the moment, but my army uniform is something I'm particularly attached to and I will wear it when it will not give away classified information. On the day to day and whenever I'm at the headquarters, I'll be in professional business attire wearing a suit, tie, and dress shoes. If a need to fight arises suddenly and/or unexpectedly, I will remove my suit jacket depending on the surrounding climate. As a white man with stereotypical brown hair and an average appearance, I'll blend in where I need to and I'll often be over-looked, which will be taken advantage of when needed.

We'll smooth out the details later. Good enough. Now to the nitty gritty. I need to know that you'll be compatible with the other members. I also need to know that you know yourself enough to reveal all aspects of your personality, even the not so good.

Your Personality: I am straight-forward and to the point. I'll get the job done and not stop until complete. I do not drag along dead weight, and if a team member is not doing their part, I will be blunt in confronting them and push them to do harder. If nobody is put on a team without the potential to be spectacular, then there is no reason someone should not be reaching that potential.
Strengths: In the past, I believe I've demonstrated effectively the good qualities of a leader. I do not steer away from a task or shy away, and instead am very steady in pushing through. Plans, when possible, are necessary to unite a team and create a whole unit rather than individuals working with their own agendas in mind, but if a plan is not possible for whatever reason, then the team must be connected enough beforehand to guess the others' moves and move coherently as a group. Communication devices are not enough: a team should know what the others are doing before they have to say it. My training, while basic, covers a wide range of skills including basic personal defense training. I've been trained in tactile strategies in military situations, and take into careful consideration the abilities and limitations of others when devising both strategies and training scenarios.
Weaknesses: In the past, I've been told that I pay too close attention to details, and have been described as a perfectionist. While this is certainly true, I would say I more prefer to make sure a job is done well than rushed. If the end result is sufficient, then the extra time and dedication are worth it, and if perfection can be achieved, it must be striven for. I've also been told that I'm over-dedicated to my work and those close to me have pointed out that I can wear myself out because I do not stop projects in the middle to take breaks. I will finish before pausing, because anything that is worth being done is worth a slight loss of sleep if the outcome is truly wanted.

Your file mentions a disconnect between you and whatever team you're a part of. You "have difficulty connecting personally" and as such, some team members of yours in the past have anonymously reported having a hard time trusting and working with you.

Is that a question or a statement?

In the file it's a statement. Do you believe it should be a question?

I believe that personal life should stay at home and professional life should stay at work. The less the two intermingle, the easier it is to compartmentalize and cope with the violence of a job entirely dedicated to violence. A disconnect does not equate to a lack of empathy or consideration, but a conscious choice, and I do not believe it can be considered a weakness under such circumstances.

We'll learn soon enough if what you said is the truth. Now. Tell me about your past. This is vital information, so try not to leave out details. Anything incriminating especially. I need to know if I have to do more paperwork to get you hired.

Your Age: As of January, I am thirty-three years old.
Your Gender & Pronouns: I'm a man, born a man.
Your History: *coldly* Is all this information not already in your file on me?
I'd like to hear it come from you.
My history is military-based. I enlisted to the British Army at the age of sixteen after being raised under the child welfare system. Service was required until the age of twenty-two, when I began to pursue a higher ranking. By the age of thirty, I was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, and continued to serve until two days ago, when I was informed that all documents on me would be made restricted access, my existence would be stripped from all public documents and web pages, and all my medals of honor would be revoked to allow secrecy. I was being reassigned to an undisclosed location, would be unable to contact my family until further notice ,and would be serving outside of the British government in what looked to be the beginning of a new mechanical age of war, all without my prior knowledge or approval.

Family... and yet you grew up in group homes. Care to elaborate?

No.

Personal Secret: If I were to disclose that, it wouldn't be personal. He's gay and was happily married, with an adopted two year old boy-- Caspian--, until he was forcibly reassigned to HQ by the British government.

I am not in the business of keeping secrets. They are dangerous. If there's anything you haven't told anyone, even God himself, I need to know.

There is no information I have not disclosed that could be of any further use to you or the organization. Besides, God is a woman, and she is not you.

Personal Wish: What's the purpose of the question?

Aspirations are vulnerabilities. If you work for me, I need to know your weaknesses in and out, because if I know them, I'll know how to deal with others knowing them.

Since I was reassigned against my will and prior knowledge, I would like the chance to at least inform my husband of what has happened so he can make the arrangements needed to raise our son without me.

Unfortunately, that is not achievable at this time. If you'd like to file a formal paper in regards to it, the logistics department can look into it further when that option becomes available to you.

...Fine. Where's the paper?

Before we leave, do you have any questions for us?

Other: Are you aware of how long I'll be stationed and assigned with the Headquarters, or when I'll have the opportunity to see my family?

That is classified information. If or when the need arises for you to be informed, it will be done with the upmost speed. Do you have any other questions?

No.

Morning without you is a dwindled dawn.
