I'm a big historical fiction fan, so I love all of Philippa Gregory's books. The Other Boleyn Girl is simply phenomenal. The boleyn inheritence is also pretty great.

Re: The Lottery by Shirley Jackson
I own the shirley jackson book, which is a collection of short stories. She really is a great plot writer--although characteristically dry in style. The story is awesome, though.
