"Oh wait. I forgot. Telling the truth is against the law now, too.” Something whipped through the air and Highwhisker's spear hit the floor.

One mouse even shouted, “The only reason you won is because of Roz, Highwhisker!”

“No. No!” he murmured, "Not Trill. “No, not you, Trill.” He became a Frozenmoon mouse. A monster that killed for what it believed was right.

“You guys go, and send this message to Highwhisker when he leaves. We’re the mice of this city, and there are more of us than there are him."

"To Sir Highfeather, the phony king of Wolf Plains."

“I didn’t stop it early enough, Flekkanos,” Highwhisker said, and then paused. “I’m stopping it now, starting with the root.”

"I killed Brightwhisker. Just for you.” He paused as Ketani raised his spear. He couldn’t have. But then, it wouldn't be beyond him.

“Thank the Great Hawk.” She scrabbled up the last stair and stood up, a satchel swinging by her side. “I know a place to hide. Come on.”

Edvard glared at Tyranos. “You kill me, and even if I did remember anything, you’d leave Tulun to die, Frozen mouse.”

“Don’t ever, ever, hurt Tulun again.” There was a choke, and before Occelle could say anything, she fell limp to the snowy ground.

So stay here, wield that sword proudly, and don’t desert.” Trill lifted her spear off of Nera’s chest. “Or you’ll be the first to die.”

"And then he realized that though he did everything he could, there were two things he couldn’t help. One of them was life, and another was death."

“Fine,” she spat. “I challenge you, Sir Ketani Highwhisker, to a duel for leadership. To the death."

"If you think that the Guild’s segregation is worth it, then fine! Take your brothers and sisters and shove them in a Guild!"

The fawn mouse inhaled. “Never mind, while you’re out I’ll find a way to bring them back. Now, go!"

Before Juniper could even take a step, someone barreled into her. She felt a strong paw on her neck and then a chuckle in her ear.
