hey! just wanted to say i'm thinking of you and i hope your missions trip is going well. miss seeing you around the site, but praying for blessings over your work :)

I know I have been less active on the site lately, but I am about to become even less active XD. I have been called to serve in South Africa as a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I will be there for two years, proselytizing and serving, and in that time, I will have limited to no access to the internet. Jesus Christ and his Gospel have brought me joy, peace, and strength that I am excited to share with others. Christ has loved me when I couldn't love myself, made me stronger when I was weak, and healed me of my sins and wounds. Because of that, he is my Lord Savoir and King, and I am honored to serve him on this mission.
As I leave, I would just like to thank you all for your amazing kindness, reviews, and fun times. YWS has made me a better writer and person, and it was amazing to be here with you. I expect to return to the site after my mission (and finish the Fallen King, hopefully with some more experience and pent-up writing energy), but I will miss you all while I am gone.
For friendship, fun times on pads, and welcoming me to the site, I would like to thank @LadyMysterio, (too many fun times to count, but the Hamilton rap was memorable) @tatteredbones (or as I know her, Gem <3 ) @katehardy (the most legendary reviewer) @Stringbean (for the fun debates) @Euphory (the most positive person I know) and @Elfboy (who's a username as probably changed, but who's conversations about religion will affect me forever.)
For amazing reviews, I have been blessed by countless of you, but I would specifically like to thank @MailicedeNamedy (whose consistency is infinitely admirable) @waywardxwanderer, @IcyFlame and @VengefulReaper (whose book I will miss while I'm gone.)
I would also like to thank many of you for being such amazing role models to look up to, examples of good writers, good people, and good disciples of God, especially @snoik, @alliyah, @Elinor, and @Arcticus
Thaaank you all so much. This site and the people on it have been a blessing in my life. See y'all in two years.
Thanks, and keep writing,
Andrew
MaybeAndrew If you're interested in being on my list of friends who get email updates from my mission (and pictures of loins), PM me, and soon because I fly out tomorrow. XD

My church: Hey, can you write a 15-minute talk to give before you leave?
Me: *writes it, trying to keep everything as brief as possible so it'll fit*
Me: *pasts my talk into Grammarly*
Grammarly: This piece would take thirty-nine minutes to read aloud
EllieMae i just remembered that you are also a member of the church!! hope your talk goes well haha

Pedantic word usage issue:
There is a water vehicle in my story that is small and single-masted, so technically, its a boat, buuuut, in the story and the world, this *boat* carries great emotional weight and respect, so I've been calling it a *ship* which technically is only a boat with three masts(/a water vehicle large enough to carry boats on it).
Do you think it's okay to break the technical usage of the words boat and ship because I want the emotions the word ship would evoke (grand, powerful, important, militaristic) and not the emotions of a boat (rinky-dink, little, probably just for fishing or something)?
Thoughts?
@LadyMysterio cuz you work in a marina, right?
LadyMysterio Yes i think it's fine. Honestly anything can be a ship if you believe in it enough. (Boat wise i mean)

LadyMysterio Also i don't work at a marina anymore. But i do know a lot about the things that dock at them.
Currently at film school actually

You know a worldwide issue is real when Big Brother finally has to step inBig Brother wrote:Hi everyone, with all the fun reviewing events happening right now this is a important message from your moderator team:
Do not use AI writing tools to generate the majority of your review. While these tools can be fun to experiment with for your own work and can even aid writers as a tool in generating creating prompts and ideas, representing these types of AI generated writing as your own is unfair to other reviewers and unfair to the authors who are hoping for human (or maybe goose?) feedback.
As a writing website, YWS exists to promote creative writing and the sharing of writing feedback between writers, representing AI generated writing as your own undermines those things, so it is important that we take this issue seriously. AI writing can be hard to spot, so we are relying on you as fellow writers and community members to act with honesty in representing your work and your reviews.
If a user is found to be using AI reviews those will be treated as both spam and plagiarism, the review may be removed along with the points earned from them, and the user may be banned from the site. Please reach out to a moderator if you have any questions or suspect that you have received an AI generated review.
Good luck reviewing this month, YWS!

alliyah the doggo has spoken - i only worry how @SquillsBot, @PoetryBot, @Bingbot & other friendly robots will be able to jump the leaderboard with these restrictions.

Parts Four, Five, Six, and Seven of Chapter Eight are out!
I think this chapter might be my favourite I've ever written (it took me six months, after all) if you want to read it and you haven't read the rest of the story, its kinda a short story unto itself, and has really long summaries at the beginning of each section to explain whats happened up to that point, so you won't be confused to jump in in the middle, and questions at the end of each section should make reviewing easier!Spoiler! :

It just occurred to me, what is there to stop people from having chat GPT write all their reviews?
ChesTacos chatGPT takes information from the internet prior to 2021 and it might have a hard time finding one singular work on this site

IcyFlame When people were first playing with the tool, I ran a few different pieces through it to have a look and to be honest it gave similar vague feedback for each piece! I think there's nothing wrong with using it as a starting point but it always always gave me back 'show don't tell'

I have new tab syndrome.
When some people enter a room they forgot why they came there.
When I open a new tab/website I forgot what I meant to do in that tab until I close it, then I have to go about googling it again.
