I’m good! <3 I did go through a rough patch earlier this year, but things are so much better now—my anxiety hasn’t surfaced in a good while. I just got back from Taiwan a couple days ago, and it was amazing seeing everyone again. :3

haha, my life has been consumed by university and family--i'm trying to make time for myself and writing these days, so that's an odd struggle. pfft, it feels like the novels are writing me rather than the other way around.

i don't think i can ask enough--HOW are you? what have you been up to these days? have you been writing/plan to write? i've missed seeing you around. ^^

GoldFlame Yesss it’s been too long! I have so much to tell you about—and I wanna hear about uni and life and everything. <3 I need deets

Taiwan was amazing; I always forget how fiercely I’ve missed it until I go back. And my mom was there taking care of my waipo/grandmother for two months, so it was amazing being reunited with her, too. A good chunk of it was a 4-week program teaching English to kids in rural areas, that was eye-opening; we got to stay with host families and kinda glimpse the more remote portions of the country, where I usually confine myself to Taipei when I visit. The kids were very adorable c: We were all super emotional the last day eghh

(also—LMS??? IT’S SO GOOD) (半人, and using Hanyu pinyin for the character names; I love the elements of Chinese culture suffused throughout)
That sucks about uni and family. I hope life stops being so crazy sometime soon <3 (and I’m def binge-reading everything as soon as I get back to Jersey) (Pomp-story withdrawal is legit)

Pompadour oh whoa--that does sound amazing--the reunion + the teaching, which is so very cool! (the only experience i have with teaching kids is from back when we would rotate shifts at a government school for community service--and that would usually be for a couple days at most. four weeks sounds like quite the adventure. and ooh to seeing new places! i need deeeetails haha.) the word 'waipo' sounds so cute--it has texture, and it's soft and doughy and sounds absolutely huggable (same things i associate with 'nani', which is what i call my grandmother, although 'nani' has a twiggy feel to it too XD).

OH MY GOD LMS IS A MONSTER. i have such a confusing relationship with this novel, like??? it is being rude and eel-slippery but also if i could work out the complications it could be the most structurally complex thing i have worked on so far? but there are so many 'if's and it's taken such a nosedive in these past couple of weeks. XD now i'm just trying to roll with it and get it all written, at the very least. (ALSO i am trying to learn Chinese. it is slow. i am slow. but i'm hoping to sneak into the classes this semester and bribe the instructor into letting me sit there even if i'm not taking the course.) (and you are sweet<3)

i will have time next monday! tuesday is a public holiday here so i can stay up late. let me know when works for you?

(*coughs* I love Yesim's grouchiness and Abalone's cold sass, and Ren's so easy to empathize with--and your prose is flipping gorgeous. that repartee tho) (the Dragonboy underlying-bit is so good--the "half-breed" deal; Ban Ren implies half-a-person, and the way rumors circulate him and people's eyes lock on him when he's in public. his name itself's half-demeaning. and the ominousness swathing the Moon Emperor and everything)

oh! so i worked on a series of short stories, and now i'm trying to find time to finish the second draft of this one (a boy who grows flowers from his skin) to try and get it published. i'm also now working on a novel about a grim reaper in training!

Yo, I can’t wait to read everything :3 A boy growing flowers on his skin is so gorgeous and poetic, and there’s so much potential symbolism there—and I love the concept of a grim reaper in training; it sounds like it could take a lot of different routes. Things that mesh lighthearted and darkhearted <3 I can’t wait to see your stuff in my bookstore one day.

It’s been slow getting back but really fun, oh my goodness. I‘ve been kinda playing with black humor ideas—hedonistic vampires who farm humans, or a breed of aliens that idealize/exoticize another species and pigment their skin, stunt their growth to look like them.
