  • *sorry long rant*

    Spoiler! :

I am a bit sadened. With the new school year starting, I am suddenly reminded of the very few good friends I have, and the ones that I have lost this past year. I good friend of mine, my best friend for seven years, is growing distant. At the end of last school year, she suddenly stoped sitting at our table without a word. I get that, and am all for taking a break, as I had to do once in the beginning of the year when there was SO. MUCH. DRAMA. I just had to get away for a week, so I did. But I came back. And I told my friends I just needed some time away from social interactions. But she didn’t tell me. Just disappeared for two whole months. I saw her in the hallways and stuff, but I didn’t really see her. To put in perspective, she got Covid and didn’t tell me. I didn’t know until a mutual friend told me she had texted him. Im just hurt. We were friends for seven years, and then one day she up and disappears for months. I don’t even care that she didn’t want to sit with me anymore. I just wished she’d told me she wanted to sit with these other people. I wouldn’t have cared (Although I don’t like the way they treat her. More like a pet than friend).

I guess this all has made me realize that she was nevertheless really my friend. I was always hers, if you know what I mean. She could confide in me (or at least I thought), and cry on my shoulder, but when I was having a tough day, I never felt I could confide in her or tell her my troubles. I guess I felt like I couldn’t because she always had it worse.

Anyway, sorry for the long rant. Im just disheartened to learn my best friend of seven years isn’t my friend anymore. Or at least not the same friendship we once had. It’s just interesting to me that I’m not nearly as sad as a should be over the falling apart of friendship that lasted that long. Perhaps that’s just a sign we weren’t that close in the first place.

It's like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.
