At Sixes and Sevens (With You): A Mix for The Party Killers

This is a mix for Suzanne’s The Party Killers. It has been in the works for a very long, long time. But, finally, ‘tis finished.

Once, again, I have just uploaded the zips, but if you have trouble with them or just want one or two songs please tell me.

Enjoy,
Cal.

[SIDE A ZIP]

1. Auf Achse by Franz Ferdinand
You see her, you can't touch her.
You hear her, you can't hold her.
You want her, you can't have her.
You want to, but she won't let you.

2. Every Planet We Reach is Dead by Gorillaz
Dreams aren't bad, I had turned back
I love the gun, but God only knows it's
getting hard to see the sun coming through
I love you... But what are we going to do?

For Kel and Agatha, from Kel’s POV.

3. Femme Fatale by Velvet Underground
Here she comes, you better watch your step.
She’s going to break your heart in two, it’s true.

Theme song for Agatha.

4. Accident & Emergency by Patrick Wolf
So come on,
Give me the worst, and then again,
I'm feeling braver than I've ever been
From the skull down to the feet,
all of the blood and sweat and meat
and for

Accident Emergency
Terrorist
Catastrophe
Dump this agony and misery
Give me
Accident and Emergency

Theme for The Party Killers.

5. Love Will Tear Us Apart by Susanna & the Magical Orchestra
When routine bites hard
And ambitions are low
And resentment rides high
But emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways
Taking different roads

Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

6. Math Won’t Miss You by Discount
Shoving into / Shadows into / Being the spy
Blowing smoke on the flowers / They take your spine every time

A song for Agatha, Kel, and Frank.

7. Tell Me Why by Jakalope
So tell me tell me will I die if I forget how to lie?

A song mostly for Frank.

8. Between the Lines by Sara Bareilles
Leave unsaid unspoken
Eyes wide shut unopened
You and me always be

For Agatha and Kel, from Agatha’s POV.

9. This Low by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova
We made a plan that was subject to change
So whatever was it works out we both get the blame
In the arms of this low
And you took the wind right out of my sails
By sweating me out on all the little details
In the arms of this low

A song for Kel and Agatha, from Kel’s POV.

10. The Body Says No by The New Pornographers
Throw, the voice you know
wouldn't say yes, the body says no
no no no
body says no
no no no

11. Furious Rose by Lisa Loeb
Furious rose, with your opiate eyes,
Your languorous hum, that tone of surprise
I’ve heard energy in adversity.
Your smile: the soul of witchery.

A song for Agatha.

12. When Did Your Heart Go Missing? by Rooney
I'm waiting, waiting for nothing
You're leaving, leaving me hanging
When did your heart go missing?
When did your heart go missing?
I treat you like a princess
But your life is just one big mess
When did your heart go missing?

A song for Agatha from Kel’s POV.

13. Apartment Story by The National
Oh we’re so disarming darling, everything we did believe
is diving, diving, diving, diving, off the balcony
Tired and wired we ruin too easy
sleep in our clothes and wait for winter to leave

A song for Agatha and Kel.

14. Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova
Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back.
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black.

A song for Kel.

15. Ice Monster by Minus the Bear
You've come to this. You were once a lion.
You've come to this. Ringing din here.
You've come to this. You were a lion.
You've come to this. Sigh alone now.
You walked on some tall new tale.
It's come to this. You walked on it tall.
But we all know you've come home to fall.

A song for Kel, about his relationship with Agatha.

16. Evening On the Ground (Lilith’s Song) by Iron & Wine
evening on the ground
and there is no one else around
so you will
blame me

From Kel to Agatha.

17. Like a Man Possessed by The Get Up Kids
Hide the misdemeanors
Never lead an open life
My hands were never cleaner

A theme for The Party Killers.

18. Benediction by Winterpills
All the sad boys come home with you
Drape you in garlands and sing their sad songs to you
Pour all their stories like rain through you
All the sad boys come home with you [...]
All the pale grey stars shine through you
Your body fell prey to the transparent mind of you
All blue ghosts search for signs of you
All the pale grey stars shine through you.

A theme for Agatha.

19. All the Umbrellas in London by The Arcade Fire
I lie around and let the darkness fall
'cause I’ve got a sense of perfection
and nothing makes much sense at all

A song for Agatha, Kel, and Frank.

20. May the Living Be Dead (In Our Wake) by Flogging Molly
Said her name was Marie
From the banks of the Lee
With the prettiest eyes my own had ever seen
Her hair like ripples
They danced with the tide
As our hearts washed away to the sea
Was she sent down from the heavens above
Her breath pure as whiskey my heart fell in love
Now the devil is courtin' a different tune
And I laugh as the tears was the rain

Tell me why no one’s listenin'
Is there nothing at all left to say
In a world so unforgiving
You mean more to me each every day
So may the living be dead in our wake

A theme for The Party Killers.

Side B

[SIDE B ZIP]

1. Get Me Away From Here, I’m Dying by Belle and Sebastian
Ooh! Get me away from here I’m dying
Play me a song to set me free.

A theme for The Party Killers.

2. It’s All Gonna Break by Broken Social Scene
waiting for tricks,
the tricks look so good.
I bet everyone's waiting in the woods.

A theme for The Party Killers.

3. Hero/Heroine by Boys Like Girls
It's too late baby, there's no turning around
I've got my hands in my pocket and my head in a cloud
This is how I do
When I think about you
I never thought that you could break me apart
I keep a sinister smile and a hold of my heart
You want to get inside
Then you can get in line
But not this time
.

A song for Agatha and Kel.

4. This Night by Black Lab
There are things
I have done
There's a place
I have gone
There's a beast
And I let it run
Now it's running . . .
My way.

A song for Kel.

5. Lydia by Her Space Holiday
I'm losing my mind in a record amount of time
Is it all in my head?
These ghosts in the hall ways, and mirrors, and under my bed

In each town I find there's always a graveyard near by
I'm taking here home
That girl from Glasgow whose father just left her alone

A theme for Agatha.

6. No one’s Gonna Love You by Band of Horses
It's looking like a limb torn off
Or altogether just taken apart
We're reeling through an endless fall
We are the ever-living ghost of what once was
[…]

And anything to make you smile
[…]

But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do
No one's gonna love you more than I do

But someone,
They could have warned you
When things start splitting at the seams and now
The whole thing's tumbling down
Things start splitting at the seams and now
If things start splitting at the seams and now,
It's tumbling down
Hard.

A song from Kel to Agatha; and Agatha to Kel.

7. Shankill Butchers by The Decemberists
The Shankill Butchers run tonight
You better shut your windows tight
They're sharpening their cleavers and their knives
And taking all their whiskey by the pint

And everybody knows if you don't
Mind your mother's words
A wicked wind will blow

Your ribbons from your curls
Everybody moan, everybody shake
The Shankill Butchers want to catch you awake

A theme for Agatha and Kel.

8. Pourtant by Vanessa Paradis
tu demandais hier
mon avis sur le Bonheur
l'air de rien voilà que tu t'inquiètes
la paix te ferait donc peur

English Translation-ish
You asked me yesterday
my opinion on happiness
there is nothing here to
frighten or worry you.

From Agatha to Kel.

9. Small Town Boy by the Gadsdens
mother will never understand
why you had to leave
and the answers you seek
will never be found at home

Song for Frank and Kel.

10. Heaven Knows by Squeeze
You're no Dame, I'm no Duke
Somehow love is a fluke
We've survived thick and thin
Taking knocks on the chin

Song for Agatha and Kel from Kel’s POV.

11. Little Boxes by The Shins
And the boys go into business and marry and raise a family
In boxes made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same
There’s a pink one and a green one and a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.

A song for Frank.

12. Maybe I’m Right by Pete Yorn
I said, "hey baby, baby, I’ll take you tonight."
and I’ll see you on the other side, sugar
your pleasant face, your crooked smile.

A song from the POV of Agatha.

13. Gold Digger’s Song by Rosemary Clooney
We're in the money, we're in the money;
We've got a lot of what it takes to get along!
We're in the money, that sky is sunny,
Old Man Depression you are through, you done us wrong.
We never see a headline about breadlines today.
And when we see the landlord we can look that guy right in the eye
We're in the money, come on, my honey,
Let's lend it, spend it, send it rolling along!

A theme for The Party Killers from the POV of Agatha.

14. Furous Angels by Rob Dougan
Cause love, like a sentence of death has left me stunned,
and I’m reeling - yeah, I’m reeling
And if you go, furious angels will bring you back to me.

15. Roads by Portishead
Ohh, can't anybody see
We've got a war to fight
Never found our way
Regardless of what they say

How can it feel, this wrong
From this moment
How can it feel, this wrong

Theme song for Frank.

16. Rise Up In The Dirt by Voxtrot
Too many times you're gonna go out with a-walkin'
Too many times you come out late
Too many times you set yourself out of the scene, it makes you walk up straight
It makes you walk up straight

Too many times you trade the bottle for the body
One drop of breath and one for skin
You say nobody knows the truth about your body, are you entirely thin?
Are you entirely thin?

A song for Agatha.

17. Los Angeles by The Rosewood Thieves
It's been so long since I've seen her around here
I can't remember if she's real
Summer days spent walking around
And up all night yeah
Trying to remember if she's real.

18. You and I Are A Gang of Losers by The Dears
You and I are on the outside
of almost everything
You and I are on the other side
of almost everything

They were slurring words and acting like
a bunch of animals every given day
Never read or hardly wrote
but signed an 'x' once in blood

A song for Kel and Agatha.

19. The Wolf by Tyler Bates
[Instrumental]

20. Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz
City's breaking down on a camel's back
They just have to go 'cause they don't hold back
So all you fill the streets, it's appealing to see
You won't get out the county, 'cause you're bad and free
You've got a new horizon, it's ephermal style
A melancholy town where we never smile
And all I wanna hear is the message beep
My dreams, they've got to kiss, because I don't get sleep, no

A theme song for The Party Killers

Have I told you lately that you're amazing? These mixes are so freakin' cool, Cal!

Plus the fact that it includes Sara Bareilles (over yonder on side A) pretty much makes it epic. Love!

Awe Cal you're so awesome but you already know that. ^_^
True love, in all it’s celestial charm, and
star-crossed ways, only exist in a writer’s
mind, for humans have not yet learned
how to manifest it.

I love it too. ^_^ I'm downloading the files now finally, and I am hoping they will kick me into outlining gear. This will be a great audio companion to NaNoWriMo.
