I'm Rachel, and I'm new to this site, obviously. I've been writing since elementary school, and I've found that it helps me continue my "luscious" imagination. I'm all for talking and being molded into a better writer. I really am a nice person, so don't let my opinions get in the way of a friendship we could have... Uh, that's about it. ^^
I just love your name Now whyever could that be, eh?
Anyway, welcome to YWS! This is indeed a place that'll help you write better, and also keep that imagination sharp. If you have any questions about writing, you can always prowl the forums (such as Writer's Corner or Ask an Expert). And, of course, you can post your writing up for critique by clicking the "Add New Work" link at the very top of the page.
If you click on your username and go to your profile, you'll see you have a Wall where you can make status updates and other people can leave you messages. We've also got a site chat, a built-in blog for all your writing triumphs and woes (and real world ones too), Storybooks (where you write stories with other members), and so much more!
As you probably read, I'm Rachael, and I'm one of the moderators around here. We're a friendly lot and don't bite, and you'll find the YWS rules are fairly simple and common sense anyway. If you ever need any help, we're great people to go to. We're easy to find because we're in green! And red too! And also orange. And sometimes bolded blue! Come to think of it, I'm sure most members would be glad to help you out if you have any questions.
Last bit you should know is that the site is currently undergoing some renovations, so not everything is smooth and shiny yet. Stick around and you'll see YWS in full glory--'tis quite an awesome thing!
Otherwise... I have some questions for you:
1) What do you write? 2) What's your favorite book(s)? 3) How is a raven like a writing desk?
Welcome to YWS!

Have you thanked a teacher lately? You should. Their bladder control alone is legend.
Thanks so much! I'm fairly sure I came to the right place. I can't wait to actually be able to have real help, the other sites weren't very helpful, so I a teacher recommended this site. And I will definitely ask any questions as they come along.
Answers to your questions: 1. I write realistic fiction, novellas, novels, short stories, poems, and the occasional nonfiction. 2. My favorite series is, no doubt, the Harry Potter series, and then the few odd books here and there such as Alice in Wonderland, Between, Georgia, Dirty Little Secrets, Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, In Cold Blood, Crime and Punishment and The Awakening. 3. A raven is like a writing desk because Poe wrote on both.
Poe wrote on a raven? The raven must have felt quite awkward!

Welcome to YWS! I'm sure you'll have loads of fun.
I've always enjoyed realistic fiction. It's a wonderful genre to experiment with. As to the other books you've mentioned, I really must find out what they're about.
Hope to see you around soon!
