Greetings Earthlings!

Hello Everyone! I'm GummyWorm and (seeing that this post in in the Welcome Mat) I'm a newbie here. I love reading and writing, short stories in particular, but I do occasionally dabble in poetry. I've attempted to write novels before, but I've never gotten around to finishing one (I hope to change that soon )

A few things about me:

-I want to be a journalist when I'm older.
-I have an orange belt in ju jitsu and have just taken up judo.
-I don't have an official favorite book, but if I were stuck on a desert island and could only choose one, it would have to be Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. (The musical isn't too bad either )
-(Obvious from my username) I adore gummy worms
-(I have a certain fondness for parentheses)
-I like drawing and photography
-I am a confirmed shower-singer (Though I never said I was good at it )

Well, that's all I have to say for now, but this looks like a pretty neat site and I look forward to meeting you all!

Hey Gummyworm!! Welcome to YWS!

What sort of short stories do you like to write? Fantasy? Romance? Horror? I myself tend to be a fan of writing fantasy.

That's really neat that you want to be a journalist! We even have a section of the site for posting articles, so you should definitely check that out and post some stuff if you've written any articles before! We also have an area for posting art & photography. You lucky one, you can certainly take advantage of all we have to offer here!

If you want to try to finish a novel, you should try National Novel Writing Month. It's every November, and basically you try to write 50,000 words of a novel in the 30 days of November. It's pretty intense, but well worth it, and I know a lot of people around here do it. There's always someone to talk (or complain xD) to about it every year.

Hi everyone! It's nice to meet you all!

As far as genres go, I used to do all fantasy, but now I've started to poke around in the horror and historical fiction area. I have a few things tucked away that I want to try and post sometime soon .

And I did do NaNo last year, which was really fun and a great experience, but my poor novel fell apart halfway through... Anyway I want to try it again this year now that I know the ropes a little more.

Oh, and SubjectBlue, forgive me for sounding stupid, but what's krav-maga?

Krav- maga: Hebrew-(קרב מגע)- means in Hebrew: contact combat in a strict translation, and hand to hand combat- in phrase translation.
It's a martial art developed and used by the IDF( Israeli Defense Force), it's very practical, fitting to modern urban areas and to modern scenario's, and is easy to learn.
