Hi there :D .
My name is Leigh and I'm a writer. I don't really know what I write yet, though.
Help me? :P :P

Leigh, if you call yourself a writer, then you should write something that you write, as a writer, and then post it on this site for people to critique you and help you better your work. Also, make sure to do plenty of reviews, which will then give you more points to post more pieces. Note that most people on this site are more than willing to help you with anything that you ask for =] Welcome to YWS

Well, Leigh, what interests you? What genres do you read? You could develop a plot and characters for any kind of story, or poetry if that's your preference. Experiment a little. Once you find what you like, try to improve. That's what we're here for. :)

Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy YWS as much as I do. I love it. It's great. ^^ If you have trouble navigating the site, or have any questions, feel free to post a comment on my profile or send me a PM with a question. I'll be happy to answer it! :3

Dude! You should definitely do some freewrites and just write whatever comes to your head and such. You'll get a better sense of your writing then. :)

Welcome to YWS! If you need anything, feel free to bug me! :D

Hey Leigh,

Welcome to the site! I'm sure within two weeks of being on YWS you will become addicted (I know I was). As others have already said, everyone on the site is really nice and helpful if you have questions! I have only been here for a few months and I have a lot of friends already. A good way to meet new people is to go in the chat room (located on the front page). Another way to get your name out there is to review other people's work (this makes it helpful for when you want reviews on the things you want).

I would also recommend participating in a contest (located under the contest link along the top of your screen). Contests are fun because they challenge your writing abilities and bring you out of your comfort zone. They also offer points as a prize, most of the time (which is always a plus)! I am excited to read some of what you post! (If you like to write poetry, I would love to read what you have written - poetry is my favorite!)

Sorry if this is an overwhelming welcome, I just wanted to share my knowledge with you :)

Hello!! :D
Well, to start off writing a story, just choose which genre you want to write about and then just go for it. Whatever comes to your mind, write it down and then try to make a story out of it. You don't even have to pay attention to grammar and spelling when you first write it (you do when you want to post it somewhere, of course). Basically, all you have to have to write a story is to have an imagination. :3
You need to learn how to laugh at yourself.
Or you'll never make it in this world.

Hi Liegh!
Ahhh this is one of the best times in writing! Whenever you start to carve out a new path in your writing and finally discover the one thing that makes you tick. Ahhh <3

For me, I discovered that poetry was my art form of choice but i used to write a lot of short stories, etc.

So just try a little bit of everything, most talented writers can write in multiple genres and styles and still be great.
Good luck! If you have any questions just hit me up on my profile or through private message. :)

Can't wait to see you around!

Hiya Leigh!

So, don't know what you like to write, huh? Well, an open mind is a wonderful mind. Try just... writing. Pick something that inspires you, think of an emotion, a place, something that you've experienced or a feeling that's been weighing on you without any explanation or reason. Write about it. Don't worry about structure, where it fits into anything, just let yourself go into your words, and you should do fine. :)

Anywho-- welcome to the site! If you have any questions, site-wise, writing-wise, or otherwise, please don't hesitate to ask. I'd honestly love to help.

Hope you like it here! c:

...I told the Men's Greeter Squad to get in here. (That's a joke.) This place is probably the best there is for humor, inspiration and general randomness. If you're not sure what to write, there is always the Story Theme Generator.

Hello! I'm Drama, the Llama, Pointe ect.
I didn't know what I wrote when I first came to this site. I played around with lots of stuff and now I mainly write fantasy with romance, fantasy, romance and poetry. Sometimes a little insane. Another way to figure out what you write is to join an SB. you join an SB by going up to tabs and clicking Storybooks RPGs, then click storybooks, then click storybooks again XD, then click on one you think you may like, then if you like it, reply to it and fill in the profile to create your charecter. If you have questions about that SB, you may want to ask the person who is operating it. :D

We are sooo glad to have you on our site, It acutally isn't that hard, once you master it, and all of us are like awesome. (not bragging, but we are. there is no denying it.) Its a great way to meet other writers and, of course get reviews on your own work, and review others. You would not believe how much I've improved, and I haven't even been here a year!!

Do you need some help though, getting to know the site?
Well, I have a club that'll help you.
