Well, hello there!

Hey there, everyone! My name is Jennifer (but you can call me Jenny) and I'm a newbie to the forums. I've been writing poetry and short stories for a few years now, but haven't really been given the opportunity to show off my work and have it critiqued. To be honest, I've always been really shy about my stuff -- so that was definitely something that held me back. But not anymore! After talking with my mom about my insecurities, she suggested that I STILL show off my work because critiquing was healthy. It was then she suggested a forum as my stuff would be seen but I wouldn't be (although I wouldn't mind meeting some of you later on).

Anyway, I'm SUPER glad to be here. I'll definitely be posting some of my work very soon. In the meantime, I can't wait to see all of YOUR impressive work. Take care, guys!

Hi, Jenny! Welcome to YWS. I'm glad that your mom convinced you to share your work. It's going to be a really enriching process and I am very sure that you'll enjoy it. You'll learn a lot by reviewing other members' works as well, so be sure to write your own critiques, too. In fact, I find that I learn a lot more by doing that than by trying to apply reviews to my own work, but it's different from everyone.

On another note, you say that you write poetry as well as short stories, but what do you write? What do you write about? Any subjects you're particularly interested in? Any genres that you think you fit into? Do you have a goal when you write? Something you're currently working on?

And what's your favorite author? What's your favorite book? Music? Movie? Food for dinner? Food for breakfast? Do you prefer dinner to breakfast, and, if so, would you prefer to have breakfast in the middle of the night? Furthermore, pickles or eggs? Lastly, I'm Hannah. Oy! I know the feeling. I think most of the people that know me have no idea that I actually write for fun. It's pretty weird, especially when they read something from me!

And meeting people is fun! Some of the adults of the site have met each other in person and whatever, so it's been really cool! However, always make sure that you're safe about it. And get to know the people before you actually meet them.

The critiques can get a little heavy at times, but hopefully they'll help you out in the long run... even though for the short term it can sting a bit. Just make sure you don't give up.
