Breaking the lurking habit...I hope

I'm not new, per say, but it has been sometime since I've been around. I couldn't recall any of my old login info, so I re-registered with a reeeaally old username. I have a horrible lurking habit, but I'm hoping I'll motivate myself to read and discuss.

As for writing, I've been at it a while. I remember my first actual story being around 8 or 9. I've stayed in the short story/novel vein, and recently have got into playwrighting. I've never really clicked with poetry. It's not my thing, but I really appreciate a good poem, especially of an epic variety. I'm a massive science fiction and fantasy geek, and my writing heroes are classics like Tolkien, Lewis, and Steinbeck, and more contemporary authors like Alastair Reynolds, Margaret Atwood, and recently Suzanne Collins.

Playwrighting? That's really cool. I'm actually starting to get into it a bit too. I do write some poetry, but I am more of a short story person. Suzanne Collins? She's awesome! Just like Elinor, I noticed you in chat also.

Anyways, how are you doing so far? So if you are not new then what happened to the old you? haha. I mean, what made you to register again? I know I ask a lot of questions and I don't mean to pry really. It's just a good feeling when I meet someone new here. And plus, I don't know Hunger Games but I heard it's really fun since I heard a lot of it from many YWSers here.

Welcome back Aurora!

If you want to be active, but you don't want to share your novels, then you might find the storybook forum interesting. Groups of writers gather to write stories together. Most of them are fantasy oriented; but it is fairly active.

Elinor and Yuriiko, I adore Hunger Games! Hardcore. It's such unflinching and complex teen literature, and that's what I find so inspiring about it! Plus, it gives us archers a female pop culture champion. I totally plan on wearing a "District 12 Archery Team" shirt to the range next time I'm home! I'll be watching the film news with a lot of trepidation.

The "old me" umm...disappeared into the limbo of my computer. There's not many people around who I can discuss writing with outside of other playwrights, and they don't always get the novel thing.

I think I'll check out the storybooks and see what's going on. I'd hate to get involved and have to disappear for long periods of time due to all my very pressing and stressful RL stuff, though.
