New author - hello!

Hi there!

I'm Mark, and I love literature.
It's my thing. I, like all of you here no doubt, devour books as voraciously as a sleep-deprived and enraged hippopotamus devours unfortunate boaters on the Nile.

A very good friend of mine already writes on this site, and I thought I'd give it a go as well. Fantasy lit is my major field, but I pride myself on my writing skills in all fields (although this pales in comparison to some of the works I view in my casual browsing). I also am a published poet, but not saying where, it was just a competition I entered and won, and have my work alongside some respected poets, of which I am extremely proud.

Well, best get to work for my first piece.

Welcome to YWS Mark!

That's great that you've done so well with your poetry! We have a lot of poets here on YWS, and some of them are quite good! Perhaps you will find enjoyment reading and reviewing their poetry and having them read and review your poetry as well!

And Fantasy? You're good in my book. I write mostly fantasy as well, and do most of my reviewing in the Fantasy Fictions section here on YWS. I have a thing about realism in fantasy that I like to enforce. Because even in fantasy, reality has to apply somewhere!

Hi Mike. Welcome to YWS. If you are willing to improve your writing and wan to learn more then i bet this is the best site to be on in the whole world. It's so good you've been already been published(not literal as you said) Okay, so fantasy is very god. it takes you to the worlds which are created by us. We are the god there. Wish you good luck and PM me when you come up with more.

I must comment on the devouring of books. I would be a very large hippo if that were so.

Poetry is amazing, though I am not the best at working with it. It's great to see that you have a passion for it and that you have been published through it. That's a wonderful experience! So congrats!

Congrats on winning that poetry contest. You've got me all curious now...maybe in a few years, till it was ages ago, reveal that book, yes?

I can't wait to read your work. I also love fantasy, but real-fiction over that, and I guess I would have to say that poetry is my first love.

I loved the line about hippopotami. A few years back, I would have agreed that I would be the largest hippopotamus in the world, but in the past few years, this particular hippo has gone on a 'diet' of sorts Not enough time.

Yay! Epic fantasy is epic! And it's great to have you on YWS... our poet/story writer combos generally turn out to be our best writers, especially as they grow on YWS.
