New here

Hello everyone!

Obviously I am new here. I saw this category on the forums and figured I might as well introduce myself if I want to get anywhere on this site. So here I am!
A little about myself, I love to write. (Of course, otherwise I wouldn't be here.) I love nature and the outdoors. I love hiking and just getting out alone. I'm a religious person and as a Christian focus my life on serving God. I suppose one could also classify me just as much as an outdoors man as you could a nerd. I tend to hole my self up indoors quite a lot for someone who claims to enjoy the great outdoors so much. Either way, I love video games. I spend a lot of my time and money on them, but I find them very entertaining as well as in some cases quite moving when you find games with good enough plots.
Since this is a website for writers I will say a bit on my writing. Please do not have any misconceptions. I do not think I am a good writer. To be honest I hardly have even a scrap of confidence in my writing. I am still however, a writer. I write because it frees my mind. I write because I am a storyteller. I love reading stories and love telling stories. Most of all I enjoy creating stories. I don't really know what kind of style writing I have. That is still being developed. Neither do I know genre. I just write what comes to mind. I don't confine my self to the limits of a few specific genres or ideals.
Any ways, I'm sure that's far too much information for a casual introduction. So I'll just leave it at this. I'm happy to be apart of the community and I hope I can grow with in my writing with all of you.

I love the outdoors! I do a lot of hiking myself but I prefer camping, quading and horseback riding.

Video games are one of the next best things to the outdoors (and horses). What are some of the ones you prefer? Oh, so you don't have genre that you prefer to read/write in? Hmm, so who are some of your favourite authors? Favourite animals?

We're all here to share our writing and help each other improve so it doesn't matter what level you're currently at but I'm sure you're being modest anyway. Maybe we'll be able to help boost your confidence in your writing

I probably spend more time indoors then out but when I find myself out the house I wonder why I don't do it more often, especially when there's snow on the ground. That just makes me want to go ski or build something so badly.

Well my favorite video games are rpgs mainly. Top ones being Morrowind, Oblivion, Bioshock, Fable, Mass Effect, and Lost Odyssey.
My favorite authors would probably be Charles Dickens, Kurt Vonnegut, J.R. Tolkein, Cormac McCarthy, and J.D. Salinger. Favorite animals? Lol now that's an interesting question. Dolphins, Dogs, otters, and Penguins, probably haha.
What terrain area do I live at? Well unfortunately I just live in some pretty boring suburban area. No hills or mountains or ocean very close by. I've got some mountains within an hours drive though which is nice. I only wish it were closer. I hardly get to go hiking.

Hello! I just joined myself a few days ago. Dickens, Vonnegut, and Tolkien are all fantastic, with that I concur. And nature! I can't say I'm fond of hiking like you are, but there is nothing like seeing a mountain vista or the ocean (esp. when the sun hits it full force).

Now now, abel, I wouldn't call it "Hillbilly Hell." It's atleast a 20-30 minute drive before you'd find the hillbillies. But we are, yes, trapped within the most boring confines of a suburban zone located just outside of Atlanta. So. Boring.

Alright, so first of all: let's get some more confidence in that writing of yours. I'm glad you're not being a braggart going off about how wonderful you are, but hey! I'm sure you're pretty good. Besides, every writer has his\her flaws, no one's perfect, right?
So any new pieces you have been working on?
I like how you consider yourself to be a storyteller. It's a good way to describe how you write, or where you inspiration tends to come from.
Any specific genre you're really into?

Well kind of sort of. Ha, a big issue I have is completing a piece. I either get writers block, or I get a new idea and start working on a new piece. Either way, it doesn't take long for me to have three completely different stories running through my mind, all going no where.
As for a specific genre, I'm not really sure. When reading I'm rather open to what kind of genre the story falls into. What I focus on is the content and the story, not necessarily just what it is labeled as. That being said that opinion of course transfers over to my writing. I don't think I have ever tried writing a story with a specific genre in mind. I just come up with a story I enjoy constantly adding to in my mind and if I see it going somewhere as I daydream about it, then I write about it. Which is why I decided to simply classify myself as a story teller rather than pick some genre than would inevitably limit my writing.

I'm Molly and I'm also a Christian and I thought it was really cool that you wrote that. I'm also a big story teller and have been working on a novel for over a year.

I don't think you need to be a gifted writer in order to write, I just think you have to enjoy it, but I'm sure if it means so much to you then you must have some sort of knack for it, so keep it up ! I'm not the greatest writer but it's always sort of been my fall-back so I decided to make it my "thing". I look forward to reading your posts and hope you have fun at YWS.
