Designer Children =?

Hey guys ^^ In my world lit class, we're writing persuasive essays, and my topic is:

Many science fiction stories deal with the possibility of being able to "design" our children by choosing the specific physical and personality traits we would like them to have. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not?

I'm surveying what people think, so help me out and leave some comments

Ew, my God, no.

Although, considering as I already have a few children, I doubt I'll be wanting more.

It's personally not something I would do, and I think it's really... pointless? Potentially damaging? It would definitely change our culture, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's kind of interesting the imagine all the changes that would take place in the event that we did get designer children.

However, while I'm not personally for it, I'm not against it, either. It's not something I've thought about that much, let alone researched. So the most I could say is, I see nothing really wrong with it, really, but it's not something that I would do for my own reasons and beliefs and such.

I don't even want children, but the idea altogether disgusts me!

The thought kind of freaks me out a little. I mean, it’s like doodles designed on my shoes or the pictures on the front of my binder. And I get sick of those designs after about…two weeks. I don’t think I could even bring myself to make something as defining as that. I mean, picking something as important for my kid as their physical appearance seems crazy. Even more would be to pick out their personalities. I mean, think about how many kids would have the same generic personalities.
That’s what I figured….a lot.
