Hi everyone :D I first stumbled across this site by searching on google about young writers, and I thought this site looks really awesome so I decided to join! :D

I'm 20 years old, and I've written several novels, mostly paranormal and mystery. I love stories that make people stop and think so I hope my story could do the same!

I have a deep fondness for all genre, but mystery novels intrigue me the most, so I must say Sherlock Holmes books are possibly my favorite books ever.

I hope to find great stories here, I love to read the works of others!

Nice meeting all of you! :D

Welcome xisa!
I'm glad you found this site. Hope you post some of your work soon, I'm sure it will be good! :D
Personally, I think mysteries are the hardest kind of stories to write so I envy you for that.
Looking for someone who won't disappoint you?

Hey and welcome to YWS!

YWS is a great place to learn and grow as a writer and the feedback here is generally top-notch as is the literary work which is submitted. You've found a good place here :)

There are a few ground rules we uphold - such as the 2:1 review to post ratio. If you ever need any help, feel free to pm myself or any other Junior Mod (the light green people!).

All the best,

Alainna

Hey! During your time at YWS, there are going to members of different color. Here's what they all mean:

Black: Regular Members.
Blue: Greeters. They are most active in the welcome forum, specializing in making sure new people get welcomed properly and laid down with ground rules.
Purple: Instructors. They help people improve their work by writing long and in-depth critiques and they may publish writing tips.
Light Green: Junior moderators. They help upkeep forums by locking, moving and redirecting threads, but only on one board.
Green: The same things as Junior Moderators, but they ukeep forums on a whole section of boards.
Red: Administrators, who are responsible for the upkeep of the forum. They can practically do anything.

All our dreams can come true — if we have the courage to pursue them.

Hiya Xisa and welcome to the wonderful YWS! :D I'm Selene and it's nice to meet you.

I also enjoy reading stories that make you think, and maybe that's what all authors hope for. They want their novels to help get people to think about what they're saying, maybe open their minds a bit more to something new. If you can achieve writing that, then kudos to you! :)

So here are a few rules and tips:

~Alainna mentioned the 2:1 ratio. Well, this is probably the most important rule on the site. It helps keep balance between the reviewing and posting, so make sure you have at least two reviews before submitting anything on the site.

~Please be kind, respectful, and courteous to your writing peers. Common courtesy, you know all that. If someone signs your guestbook, you sign back. If someone reviews your work it would be kind of you to review theirs.

~Don't take reviews personally. Everyone is trying to help you improve in your writing, so they have good intentions. If they're being straight out mean, please PM a Mod or JMod, like Alainna.

~Don't use chat-speak or CAPs. DON'T TALK LIKE THIS nd dnt tk lyk dis. This is a writers' site, so you're expected to write like one. Term abbreviations, like lol, POV, and MC are acceptable.

Also, if you'd like a review from an Instructor here on the site, please contact one from this thread-

Have a question? Want a review or need a friend? PM me and I'll be happy to help! :D

Hey Xisa ^^ Welcome to YWS ;) I'm Shina, one of the instructor-greeters here on the site. It is my job and my pleasure to greet the newbs here on YWS.

So... Welcome (again :P)

Though I'm sort of busy with school and flooded with extracurricular things I really shouldn't be overbooking my self with and everyone else covered the rules, I'll give you my best advice on how to take advantage of YWS... In a good way, of course xD

You'll never find a place with more dedicated writers. Even if you find another writing site or perhaps meet a writer in person. The internet allows writers to be who they want to be, to reveal their true colors. Use this to your advantage. You can be anyone you want, whether you want to be a social person or known as being a passionate writer. Really, anything.

Most YWS members will put everything they've got into reviewing your work, so you take advantage of those reviews and feed on criticism. The first step to becoming a better writer is to swallow your pride because self-editing isn't such a great thing xD

Umm, err, I haven't greeted in a while, so I forgot my usual info lines -.-" Sorry, and have fun writing!

Hiyas Xisa! Welcome to YWS! :)

You've written several paranormal and mystery novels? That sounds so interesting! ^-^ Both are extremely wonderful things to read about and I suspect it must be just as fun to write them. Have you read any books by Elizabeth Chandler? She's a wonderful author and her novel (which contains two different books) "Dark Secrets 1" is really good. She uses the paranormal to help solve different mysteries. There's also a love story in each part of the novel, but it's amazing. Maybe you'd like it. :)

Let's hear a bit more about you though. ;)
~What's your favorite color?
~What type of music do you usually listen to?
~If it somehow became possible to live on the other planets in the galaxy, which one would you go live on? (Keep in mind that any obstacles would have some sort of technology going against it so that it wouldn't be a road block) lol Terrible question, I know, but I had to ask.

PM me if you need any help! ^-^

Smiles!

Hey Xisa ^^ Welcome to YWS ;) You have a cool username. Reminds me of my cousin Riza, or Zenon from the movies xD I'm Shina, one of the instructor-greeters here on the site. It is my job and my pleasure to greet the newbs of YWS :elephant:

And now, in honor of the YWS grand reopening (which you joined just in time for *winkwink*)

A song...

Look at this site? Isn't it neat?
YWS is a place that can never be beat!
Wouldn't you think we're a site,
A site that has, everything?

Look at the forums, full of great stuff.
How many wonders can one website hold?
Looking around here you'd think:
Yes, they're amazing!

We've got instructors and greeters a-plenty!
We've got mods and a Nate galore.
You want a review? June's done many!
But who cares? No big deal. We'll do more!

We wanna help everyone that comes around,
we wanna see, wanna see them writing!
Writing on papers with those
Whaddya call em'? Oh, pens.

Typing away you don't get too far,
Mentors are required for self-improvement.
Painting those pictures on,
What's that word again? Canvases.

Up where they write, up where they post,
Up where they talk all day in the chat-room.
Wandering free, wish you could be
Part of this site!

Have a great time ^^

-Shina
