A little newbie wandered onto the welcome boards...

Hey all. I'm Anna. -waves ecstatically-

What can I say? Writing is my absolute life. I write mostly historical and/or romantic fictions. I've dabbled a little bit in fantasy and found that I can't write it... at all. Whenever I get the chance, though, I work on it. Maybe someday I will wake up and find that I actually can write fantasy... but it will take a lot of work.

I also love to read. I read anything, from historical fictions to the modern day ones, from "normal" writing to fantasy, from crazy, mixed-up mysteries to normal, slow stories about a couple falling in desperate love. Anything I can get my hands on I read. Of course, I sometimes stop right in the middle, but... you get the point, right?

I love quotes. In fact, I use them quite often. My current favorite is "Perhaps it's for the way I handle my umbrella." A quote made by Mr. Steed, my username's namesake. From the Avengers? Yeah, I figured you would have no clue what I was talking about. The Avengers was on in the 1960s and it was pretty much the bomb. English accents rock the house!

My second favorite?

Never engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

I too write historical fiction. My primary era is the 18th Century but I am dabbling now in the 17th for grins. I love history, and have an awful time supressing my geekdom.

My favorite period is probably the eighteen hundreds, 'cause I like how their relationships were so sacred and stuff. Yeah, I'm weird like that. I also am pretty much in love with arranged marriages, like the kinds where you post an ad and they respond? Great fun. Yes, yes. And I also like how they freely use "ain't" and other proper grammar, just because I like it when other people point out that it's not proper grammar and I can say, "But that's how they talked!"

ANYHOW...

Specific authors? Trying to make it hard on me, are you? Uh... Ted Dekker is the tops of fantasy, probably either Gilbert Morris or Beverly Lewis for normal times, and then pretty much anything I can get my hands onto otherwise. I absolutely adore Ted Dekker, though. He's my hero.

Aw, I feel your pain. My Dad freaks out (home schooled) because I don't do history in my schoolwork "well enough" (but I get Bs, mostly, and it's very common that I bring home - xD - an A!), since he says that I love history and stuff. But I'm like, "NOT THE RIGHT TIME PERIOD, DAD!" ANYWAY.

Gosh, the book titles are too long. Um. Here's a good little list:

- A Home in the Valley - Dianne (can't remember her last name)

- Three - Ted Dekker

- Blessed Child - Ted Dekker & Bill Blight

- The Circle Trilogy (Black, Red, White) - Ted Dekker

- Pretty much anything by Gilbert Morris. I mean, he's just way too awesome for his awesomeness to be confined to just one or two books. But if it has to be, I would have to say the Shadow Portrait is my favorite of his books and it was freakin' awesome.

- Pippy Longstocking. I just like this book for some reason.

- Blink - Ted Dekker is pretty good.

- Darling Cassidy, Tarah's Lessons, Laney's Kiss, & Emily's Place are pretty good books.

There are more, I can assure you. But I can't think of their titles right now. Oh, the Abram's Daughters Series is pretty cool. Beverly Lewis.
