Mesh *gasp* writes!

Yeah, basically what the title says.

In recent news, I submitted a bunch of poems to my school's literary magazine. I know a few of them were accepted (I know the entire editing staff, so good thing it's anonymous submissions!), though I haven't gotten the official letter, yet. Gotta love friends that spill, huh?

Other than that, I've had a couple other poems published, but were of such horrendous quality they'll never see this site.

Now, if only I had the patience for prose, again, I might get somewhere with this writing gig (or scripts, but that's another story )

And now! I officially dub this thread the "Mesh's rambles about her not-quite-existent writing career, in which she will complain at will about writing, life, writing, and writing in general" thread. And possibly rants about the stupidity of editors, but we'll see what happens when I actually send something to a big publisher first, eh?

Do you think prose is easier to publish than poetry, or the other way around?

I've found poetry easier to publish, but I haven't really tried to publish any prose, yet. Both other poems are in anthologies, one for a contest, one for a local anthology that Crysi's in, too!

Oh, do you know if there's gonna be another local anthology? Not that I have anything to submit, but still...

You're gonna be in Creative Writing this semester, right? So you'll HAVE to write prose, and very soon. That's the first section. Then you'll move on to poetry, and finally you'll go to plays, but you only have to write one play. I never got mine back...

Well.

I... um.. yeah.

Prose makes my head screwy. All I can do is start random short stories, and never finish them. Typical, I know. Luckily, poetry unit's next in my writing class, so I'll be back in my happy place, and not all confused with poetry-prose and half-reflective stuff.

Which reminds me... have to go send in those two poems that were accepted for the school lit. mag.

So... yeah.

I have a plot for my NaNo. Well, maybe calling it a plot is a bit much, but i have a general direction, now. It'll be weird, and leaves me free to incorporate as many dares as I possibly can.

It involves giant crickets (Sami will remember that, I think), and vampire ants.

You kidding? There are literally a million poetry magazines. I mean, no-one has ever heard of them, but they'll pretty much publish anything. Prose is much tougher, but when you finally do get published, it's much more of an accomplishment.
