small suggestion but is there any way you could make something where I get a notification when a specific user posts a new work? there have been a few stories I passively follow and I'll randomly remember it and be like "oh I wonder if a new chapter has been posted" and I go check and they're three chapters deeper. anyways it'd be nice to read stuff right when it comes out and maybe a bit selfishly get the extra green room points.

Was doing some reviewing on a many-chaptered work today and I love this drop down/previous and next chapter buttons! However, they seem to be set up backwards...the "previous" button takes me to the next chapter (ch11p2) while the next takes me back to ch10p2. Seems like it should be the other way around?

I think this depends on how the author has set up the folder.

@niteowl ->> Like @Tikaya said, it depends on how the author has set up the folder. If they set it up on their portfolio such that chapter 1 is in the first row, and then ascend from there, the next / previous button will work as expected.

That being said, I have thought about using code to impose an order on works when they're clearly labelled, and you might remember when that was done back in 2011. Not totally sure, but thoughts are welcomed.

@bladassare ->> If you're reading a chapter and you hit the subscribe button, you'll get a notification whenever the author adds a new chapter. Does that work, or were you thinking of getting a notification of whenever that author posts a new work?

@Ranger ->> I'm actually really interested to hear thoughts about that, and almost posted a topic the other day soliciting opinions on precisely what you're describing. I know a number of writing sites allow you to comment on works paragraph by paragraph. If people think something like that would be useful, I'm more than willing to give it a shot.

@Meshugenah ->> Absolutely! I'll fix that tomorrow.

@romanticchemist ->> I will also absolutely fix that tomorrow.

Was wondering if it was possible to incorporate a way to mark certain notifs as unread? Many times I tell myself I'll get to it later but then I end up forgetting. I do it with emails a lot - marking them unread so I know that's something I need to address, would be cool if we could have something similar for notifs.

I am not sure if this is a PC/Laptop-only thing or if mobile users also face the same thing and I don't know whether this has been mentioned in this thread before or not but --

Whenever I am reviewing some work and use either of the bold, italics, underline, URL or even quotes, it always scrolls down to the very bottom of the review and the effect is always a bit jarring. It's not really an issue if you are writing a review in a linear fashion, but if you are following a format of sorts, then it becomes a real trouble. While you could just type the BBcode code yourself for all of them, the existence of those buttons is kinda redundant if they make you spend more time scrolling up and down and finding where you actually made the formatting change.

For a specific example, suppose you select a specific line of text or paragraph from the work you're reviewing and press the Quote in Review button that pops up. It will send the quote to the place where the caret was when you were last typing, however it will scroll down to the bottom of the text regardless.

Personally, I find it kinda annoying so it would be great if that could be fixed.

Silhouetted by the trees, circled by the circus sands --
With all memories and fate, driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow...

@Nate awesome!! I think something close to the google system would be very helpful. I know there is a way on Google stuff to highlight certain lines and then leave personally viewable comments on them so that the text stays highlighted or has a little comment mark beside it. I forget exactly how it works but it’s pretty easy to use if I remember right. It was used a lot for some of my college classes throughout the past two years and makes it helpful I feel for those who read the whole piece and then wrote the review instead of reviewing as they go. I’d be more then happy to hear what options we have right now as well to try and take a gander at what might be most useful to impliment.

@romanticchemist ->> You can now control the display of smilies from Site preferences in the UCP (gear icon). It also works site-wide now.

@Meshugenah ->> My challenges has been added as a top-level link on the Events page!

@TheRebel2007 ->> That is now fixed. Let me know if it continues to be an issue!

@canopy ->> Due to the way notifications is done, that would a lot of code for something small. It's possible, it'd just be very time consuming to do.

@Ranger ->> Can you provide me a link to that?

@Nate It's just the generic google docs/slides/other. I can provide a link to one as an example later tonight though if still needed.

Nate, regarding the "quote in review" thing that rebel brought up.
Is there a way to not only put the quote into the review box at the end but also copy it into the...Zwischenablage. wait. what's the word. Clipboard?
(For ppl who write their reviews in word--with proper spellcheck etc XD
That way, I could just quickly copy the quote without having to scroll down, and up again~)

I would love a feature in the Writers log where you could actually write? Like a small doc or something?

I think it would be fun to add reactions to when someone updates their Writer's Log like we can when someone finishes a challenge.
