Welcome Wist!

@winterwolf0100 Here's what I came up with about my character so far:

Spoiler

Girl (I haven't come up with any names yet, so feel free to replace the placeholders with whatever if you use my ideas) is the adopted daughter of two citizens of Vediatha- and her adopted father is a professor at the academy. She also has a younger brother, who I'll call Brother (for obvious reasons) who is also adopted. Girl and Brother both are sorcerors, which is how their adopted parents found them (in Vediatha's orphanage or something) but have different powers.

Girl is social, girly, and maybe a bit shallow, but she's very firm in her belief that everyone should be treated fairly. She loves people, especially her friends, and loves meeting new people and learning about their lives.

Brother was always supposed to be the one to join the Dragon Riders, since his power is more useful for it (maybe Soundwave magic? So he can communicate with his dragon/fellow riders in the sky?) and it had always been his dream. Girl wanted to join too...somewhat. But she was happy for her brother and didn't care too much that only he'd become a rider (for whatever reason, only one can be a rider; I haven't yet figured out why)

Then everything changed. Due to some unfortunate accident, Brother fell into a coma. Now, Girl wants to join the Riders- both to fulfill Brother's dreams, and to fulfill her own ambition.

Here, I made 2 options for where her life takes her, depending which premise you guys choose.

Established Riders:
Girl would be the newcomer to the Riders, unless the thing with Brother is backstory and happened a while ago. She would probably start off as one of the "this job is beneath us" people, but does it anyways because of her sense of duty to fulfill Brother's dream. Her character arc would be learning to separate her brother's dreams from her own wishes.

New Riders:
Girl is in the academy, where she meets a kidnapped student. The kidnapped student's story strikes her hard, since she's so into fairness. She's sure that the king doesn't know about it, and convinces the other students to go with her to her father to talk about it. If you want to have the father be a good guy, have him not know about the situation and go to his boss about it, and finds out what's really going on, which makes the students have to flee. If you want to go with a darker note, the father knew about the plot the whole time, and maybe even adopted Girl and Brother just so one will be in the academy. I haven't come up with much of her story after this.

Anyways, that's my character! Feel free to use her as your character, a side character, or not use her at all. Feel free to change her, too, if her story doesn't match up with your at any point.

Have fun!

Officially putting our (very bare-bones) outline here! We're working on a more detailed version, but wanted to turn in one for badges :] @DungeonMaster

We'll have 9 posts, with each post likely being split between multiple actual posts. The reason we use the word post here is purely to identify perspective shifts.

POST 1:

POV: Ley's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: Being asked to serve as royal envoys. Possibly also meeting with one another to discuss this.

POST 2:

POV: Wist's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: Saying goodbye to the world we know. This post will prob be from the POV of someone who has an established fam or partner or even pet that is rooting them to where they are. Tensions are high and there are a lot of feelings about everything. Possibly also includes them leaving? This is from the perspective of someone who is very anti-king and has set up their life around the idea of killing him, so we'll get to see a kindling perspective here.

POST 3:
POV: Winter's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: They meet somewhere in Vediatha. In post 1, we get to see the elite, the money, the touristy. This post shows the seedy underground-- how things aren't as fair as they seem on the surface.Getting supplies, possibly finding food for their dragons before they take flight. I'd imagine they get restless if hungry : P Also maybe stopping by an apothecary or med bay for some emergency medical supplies that they can't find within the academy itself. This is showing us the culture of Vediatha beneath the surface.

POST 4:

POV: Ley's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: They leave Vediatha and start heading to Ebony -- would be funny if they went a while in the wrong direction and then had to turn around or something. Either this or they encounter some obstacle before they set camp. This is when the nerves start setting in. Could include their first night camping. They start really talking about the monarchy. The three riders aren't SUPER familiar with one another so it's very awkward, tensions high, everyone is cautious like "what can I say in front of these people when idk if they agree with me >.>." We've also got a Loyalist and a Kindling both in this group, so this conversation will be interesting to say the least.

POST 5:

POV: Wist's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: It's the next morning. Their dragons are starving... again. Need to feed them. Some bonding time between our characters could take place here, while they're eating breakfast and figuring out a game plan for officially arriving in Ebony. Would love if they hit a setback here... bad weather, possibly? Even with the water dragon's help (Winter's Character), I'm sure it'll still be tough for the other dragons to navigate the skies. This could also cause upheaval between dragons and following orders.

POST 6:

POV: Winter's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: They finally get back in the skies. With the weather setback, it takes them a bit longer than usual to arrive in Ebony territory. I think tensions are also SUPER high in this post with a lot of bickering and just different worldviews about the kingdom, monarchy, maybe the prophecy. People are grappling with their existence. This would be a good post to encounter poverty, bad aspects of the monarchy, stuff like that. Maybe they have a mini mission where they encounter a group of people that need help and technically they aren't supposed to use their dragons for non-ordered things, but this is when the Loyalist goes "...no but its good to help people..." and this is where we see them make the first decision to kinda disobey the monarchy on a small scale... [Think the little side adventures the gang has in Avatar Last Airbender where they help a random small village. That type of thing.] There will also likely be some religious aspects explored here, since Winter's character is connected to religion fairly strongly.

POST 7:

POV: Ley's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: Them actually arriving in Ebony, seeing the change in culture -- trying to speak to the king or get to him while a murder is happening -- everyone's on edge. Could figure out some important family struggles or relationship struggles some of them are going through. We are in Ebony!! The journey is OVER! Oh my god the king is dead. Hmm... how we all feeling about this? Who goes awol, who goes home? Does anyone go home? How does the Loyalist grapple with the center of their loyalty suddenly being gone?

POST 8:

POV: Wist's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: Ebony is chaos. The group rushes home to Vediatha and things are in ruins. The academy is falling apart and people are at each others throats. This is a "everyone we are on the same side omg don't kill that random person--" and possibly a complete loss of faith in like, the goodness of people? Or a gaining of faith in the goodness of people. Something something, maybe a priest here is starting to take charge in the chaos so its also morphing into an ultra-religious movement? Maybe the priest turns on magic users and is like "this is what got us here!!" and in the paranoia of it all, people are really freaked. Our group ends up having to escape from their own home. This post really gets to explore how Vediatha has changed in such a short amount of time-- or is it that our characters have changed? Duh duh duhhhhhh!

POST 9:

POV: Winter's Character
MAIN PLOT POINT: Where are they now? Reflection time. Where are they going? If one of them had a family, they might be dead at this point due to the riots. It's crazy out there. Things are nuts. Maybe someone's family fled and now the group decides to go look for them. Maybe the group decides to go rogue. Maybe they decide they're going to try to stop the prophecy. They figure out where they're going, we explore how much they've grown, bada-bing bada-boom.
