In Prisma, a person's magic is determined by crystals. Children have jewelry implanted into their skin before they can speak -- binding them for life to the magic type that will shape their fate.
Every year during Guild Audits, the Luminous Trials are held. This happens when banished/exiled Guilds send champions into arenas accustomed to every crystal, ranging from illusory battles to teamwork tests. The winners become The Luminous.
Auralynne Caeloraen was never meant for the actual battle arena. Her Tide Opal crystal grants her power over water and emotion -- but she'd been training within her home Guild for only three years, studying the interactions between crystals and their users' emotions, not combat. But when her guild is accused of treason and stripped of any status, Auralynne is forced to compete. Not only to save her friends, but also her family.
