regex

if i were less tired, i'd write a poem with regex (regular expressions)
i could talk about using regex to search in the files of my brain (would those be memories?)
for example, * matches zero or more characters (or zero or more of the pattern it follows), and i could use that to represent being open to anything, or something more thoughtful that i can't think of right now
. matches any single character but a newline. and maybe i'd ponder that compared to *, and the combination .*
i'd use [brackets] and h-y-p-h-e-n-s to match for stuff in sets because brackets and hyphens are cool. also (parentheses) and {curly braces}
and ^ to match for characters specifically not in a set, and | for or
alas, i am tired, and i'm afraid the search function in my brain is often thwarted by the age-old enemy called forgetfulness

omg, I love everything about this last one, from the fact I almost remember how SQL works to the fact the site blocked you.

errors

i collect errors.
i take screenshots of 504 status codes, abrupt terminations, "Sorry, there is a problem with the service"s, unexplained failures
and meticulously label them with the application, date, and other relevant details.
i find it interesting how things can go wrong in so many ways.
(too often, i take technology for granted.)

[timestamp: a few minutes later]
i believe i've missed the point.
there was something profound i was going to say, i think, but the packet was dropped somewhere along the route from my brain to my fingers and
–funny how errors are essential for evolution–
ah, i remember now. i was going to comment on how i collect sad songs as well,
as if storing them up for an inevitable time of heartbreak
(because tragedy is as inescapable as the sunrise, or so all the stories lead me to believe)

// i listen to the radio on a 2014 walkman these days
the sound of static in the elevator has become familiar to me //
and so has // signals overlapping, interference //

[timestamp: a few years sooner or later]
i want to listen to all the things we wont say
// by technology i meant you //
i-dont-know why i-feel-so-melancholy-sometimes
i guess a lifetime of stories has taught me that just when things seem too good, they turn bad

…it will be alright, i('d like to) promise you myself. by now,
i tihnk ive becme comftable wiht errorors

and i suppose this is it

i guess i didn’t write too much
on cirrus and citrus
this year.
perhaps my mind was clouded
or i was feeling too bitter
but really, it was more of a loose theme anyways.
someday i will read through these threads
and choose my favorites and compile them
(a programmer to the core– even now, i think of compiling programs rather than poetry)
into a collection of uniquely mint writing
(but haven’t i, like everyone, fed on the inspirations of others?)
…i hope i will have more time next year.
