Kai Evans had done everything he was meant to. He grieved his fiancé's disappearance. After two years, he accepted that the love of his life was never coming back, and he started dating again. Six months later, he was quite proud of himself for learning to function after a loss.

So when his fiancé shows up on his doorstep looking half dead and saying that he was turned into a vampire by people who are now chasing him, Kai is a little less than thrilled. Now torn between his old life and the one he had been so carefully building, chased by a group of scientists playing God, Kai has to accept that life isn't done toying with him and figure out how to make it to the other side of this, without breaking the hearts of the two men he loves the most or losing his mind along the way.

• Plot the story using the three-act structure.
• Make moodboards for the setting and characters
• Flesh out the villains and make The Leader.
• Maybe make a playlist...?
• Fill in the plot with any missing beats.

Sarcastic, rarely serious, and just trying his best, Kai only functions under pressure if he can laugh it off. Definitely not the best with feelings, but hey! Who needs that when you're on the run with your ex(?) fiancé and your boyfriend? Wait...

Lev Mikhailov: Lev is or was or maybe is Kai's fiancé. He met Kai in college, where he was pursuing a degree in military science to climb the ranks of the army. Lev is stoic, reserved, and tends to observe quietly. How did he land someone like Kai? Well, Lev is a great listener and tends to remember all the little details Kai doesn't. And, he's possibly even worse with vulnerability than Kai...

Darby Christoforou: Darby is Kai's new boyfriend of six months. Darby is the prop master at the theatre Kai works for, and the two of them met backstage. Darby is a little awkward, but well-meaning. He's a major conspiracy theorist and has a secret and anonymous podcast (you can request collabs on his marketing Tumblr page). He takes some time to open up, but once he does, he loves to talk. Just don't ask about his parents. Ever.
