Spooktober Contest: 10 Words - 10 Sentences

Write a Funny or Tragic Spooky Story using every letter of the word SPOOKTOBER as the first letter of each sentence (in such a way that you can read Spooktober vertically)

But remember that you may only use 10 sentences, each sentence with a max of 10 words. You’ll be judged on creativity and all of the requirements listed above.

A title is optional. This is a quick and fun activity, I hope you enjoy ^^

Title: The Evils
My entry:

She left the house, quickly locking the door behind her.
Praying they wouldn't follow her, she tightened her coat.
Once out of her home street, she sighed with releif.
Only souls of the Evils remained, still haunting people.
Kara, her sister, had gone mad because of their influence.
They fed on people's fears and drove them to insanity.
Once a victim was chosen, they never stopped following them.
Blood throbbed furiously through her, because she was now chosen.
Eerie singing met her ears, "no!" she panicked, hiding desperately.
Running slowed, face relaxed, she started humming along the song.

Pretty sure it's just the chill autumn air.
Oh really?
Oh, really.
Kind of you to finally show up, at least.
Thanks, it's not like I had a job to do.
Obviously not, detective.
Be real with me, what's going on here?
Everything's lining up to his usual patterns, sir.

The Cottage - Written as a poem! Fun Challenge!

The Cottage

She always locked the door when leaving from her cottage.
Prior to leaving dear cottage, she always snuffed the fire.
One day, a-home she strolled, and saw that smoke arose.
Over to cottage, she ran, and pulled upon the door.
Key unturned, to her shock the door, was left ajar!
Timidly she entered then, but heard a sound so unclear.
Oh, how strange... a shrill laugh, somewhere close, echoed around.
But she turned to see, little shoes, climbing the chimney!
Ever-warm, fire was growing, and smoke; her lungs filling!
Ragged breaths escaping, the door failed, it was now nailed.

Title: The Shadow

Shadow stretched over the cobblestone pathway, darkening a gray space.
Pace quickened, feet scrambling like groups of mice fleeing danger.
Over the hill and under the moon, chasing lost shadows.
Oh no.
Knees supporting aching arms, glancing at the shadow's sudden disappearance.
Terror poisoning blood, heart banging its fist on rib cage.
One split second, and a cold hand grasps the throat.
Breath cut off like string, fingernails dig into soft skin.
Every passerby hears no screams, sees no wide, fleshy grin.
Run.

powerful ringing of the bells cut through the silence.
only her weeping went unheard.

open mouthed, she sobbed. "Help me. Someone."

killing her, slowly, yet nobody came.

trickling blood, pooling at her feet.
open wounds; her last time to bask in moonlight.
breaths, sharp and full.

enigmatically: the stairs creaked as he came down.
rumbling shrieks, she wailed as the bat struck.

This is such a creative challenge!!

Lost Life

Souvenirs of sorrow fill the rooms,
Precious memories long since forgotten.
Originally, the manor was a place of love and life, now
Old age has taken that life and scarred its beauty.
Know that if you stay long enough, you may find,
Trails of footprints in the dust,
Orbs of light, figures of shadows; things you can't explain.
But none of that compares to her;
Ethereal mistress, pale and vague.
Returning every night to search for that lost life.

It's time for the results! First of all, a big thank you to everyone who participated for making this such a fun contest! Every entry was amazing and spoooky, that’s why no one is going home without a pretty participant badge!
