Powerful thread Ellie. Some words that come to mind for me when I read it: brooding, growth, reincarnation, resilience. I love that you played a lot with form and style and theme throughout the month - you explored a lot and each poem felt "fresh". Really enjoyed your "heartbreaker" poem too with the extra internal breaks - perfect for that theme as it created a more stilted "broken-up" feeling while reading.

April 27th (This is so late but I keep forgetting to update and find the poems I wrote on the right day xD)

LEGO Flowers

The lego flowers we made
Will never die.
They still live on my shelf,
While every part of who we were
Died.
Petals fell, slowly.
One at a time.
Until there was nothing, but a stem.
And now you are gone,
But the flowers we made
Still live.

April 28:

Plastic water bottles and concrete curbs.

Your random act of kindness,
Seen by no one, except my peering eyes.
Your face unrecognized and soon to be forgotten,
Your name and life, completely unknown.
Your desire to live or die-
Nothing I will ever know.
Your kindness, the only remnant of peace I will ever feel.
I am the only one who saw
your random act of kindness.
And that's everything I needed,
To make it through one more random day of my life.

April 29:

Window watching.
You never know who is watching you suffer.
And who is crying with you.
I peer through a window and watch
The family begging on the street.
And i cry because i can't help but i want to help.
I feel alone because i want friends but i assume no one likes me,
But really, i need to have faith in my own
Window-watching friends, too afraid to approach me.
I need to accept love and love myself for who i am
Anf for the loveable person i know i can be
(and am, to all those who hide behind windows and shadows
And curtains and doors.)
