When someone's literary work hits the spotlight on the front page and it doesn't have cover art, a default is chosen for the work instead. At the moment, there's 8 possibilities, but I'd like to increase that to 20 for more variety.
If you're interested in creating some, it just needs to follow these guidelines:
- Needs to be 800 pixels tall by 600 pixels wide
- White text with a black outline should be legible on the cover
At the moment, none of the default images have actual cover art on them, but that doesn't need to be the case. If you come up with actual artwork, it should not infringe on any copyrights*. It should also either be general enough that it could apply to any work, or at least to a specific genre.
* YWS has a license to use any artwork from https://vladstudio.com, so the copyright infringement rule doesn't apply there. If you're interested, check those out!
