How to meet people/how you met your boy/girl/endyfriend?

10 posts in this topic.

  1. Basically, none of the queer girls I know at my school are really my type and I have no idea how to meet people outside of school so I was wondering if people who are actually in a relationship can help me out?

If you're currently in a queer relationship or have been in the past how did you meet your partner? Through school/university? At a club of some kind? In a gay bar?

I'm gonna be legally allowed to go to bars in a month, so that's gonna be an option, although I dunno if it's gonna be a great option or not. Anyways, just really need some advice if people have any. Thnx!
  2. Two pieces of advice:

    1. Maybe half of my successful long term relationships with men have been made on dating apps or internet communities. Some have developed into live-in situations, some have ended in chaos. #relationships

    2. Going to a bar wanting a relationship may give you an extra level of vulnerability to the dangers of bars--the reason I avoid them most times, really (other than anxiety.)

Basically, there's no cheat code for getting a relationship, but go for it where you're comfortable.
  3. I met my "girlfriend" in kindergarden. We went to the same dance studio for a long time. I didn't realize I was lesbian til' this year, so I had no idea that I had feelings for her. It wasn't until, well, yesterday, that I realized I had a crush on her. Technecilly, we aren't allowed to date since we both are still in middle school, but I still call her my girlfriend. I was scared to tell her that I liked her cuz she is one of my closest friends. But she's totally ok with it! We aren't really dating, but I still call her my girlfriend. She still loves me just the same. Well, a little bit different. But since she isn't lesbian, I feel like I'm presuring her to date me (in secret). She's so cool with it, and I love her so much!
  4. I have a new girlfriend now.
  5. I met my boyfriend at school and didn't really know how much I liked him until I slow danced with him at the high school Halloween dance. It was nice just being in his arms, and him in mine. What I didn't realize was that, while he was pansexual just like me, he was already with a girl. I told him that I liked him that night and told me that he wanted to figure things out with this girl and he would tell me after the weekend. Now we are together and have been since the first day of November. We're pretty happy together but I still struggle with not giving him affection in public places since it makes him uncomfortable. I love him so much but I still have some things I need to work on before I can really be someone he deserves.
  6. Online! I wasn't looking, but we met in a community Discord group.
  7. i've never been in a queer relationship but my straight relationships never ended well
  8. I have a gf of 7 months almost 8. We met each other in 2021 when I moved to her school, and we became part of the friend group. Last year we became pretty close friends when the friend group slowly started to fall apart. But she was always there for me during the hard time. From midway through term 3 to midway through term 4, she was part of a polly relationship, dating our demi-boy friend while he was also dating another of our friends. That friend broke up with her though in term 4 after he lost feelings and ended up just dating the other person. She was heartbroken obviously, and finally it was my turn to help her. One of our friends (the only straight girl in our friend group) bought a tub of ice-cream and although the teachers told her off, they let her keep it in the freezer and we ate it at lunch. I slowly started to fall for my friend who had been dumped but since she had been dumped so recently I didn't want to say anything. I'd had crushes on her in the past but this time i fell hard for her and ended up telling a few of our friends. Who had been told by her that she had a crush on me. Over one weekend (the crush majorly started that Friday) we quickly realized we had both fallen for each other and the next Monday she asked me to be her gf. We have been going strong ever since. We sadly have never been able to go on dates because her parents are pretty homophobic and can tell I'm gay so she isn't allowed round at my place except for my birthday. They are also extremely overprotective so we cant even go to a café or something. But we still see each other at school and have a couple of classes together. We kind of are star-crossed lovers in a way, but it's not like that's gonna stop us. For advice, idk. This is my first relationship and it was mostly luck that caused it. I definitely think you should talk to people and get to know them, at least as friends first. I don't really like the idea of dating someone I barely know, but that might just be me. Good luck!!
  9. I have the same question really
  10. My husband and I have been together about 4.5 years, married for 1 year & we matched on bumble and immediately hit it off! A lot of queer people seem to have good luck on there or on an app called taimi.
