   I'm doing a project about regulating homeschooling in my province (the goal is to make a persuasive presentation on the topic), and one of the things I need to do is define the issue behind homeschooling in the first place. Have you encountered any laws about homeschooling? How about court cases? Just about anything will be helpful; even though I'm only taking the issue of regulating homeschooling in my province, I'm going to need info from all over the map (that being said, I'd prefer to stay on North America with these laws and cases. xD).

   Well, there's the fairly recent thing about California basically outlawing homeschooling... you could look that up. In my region, homeschoolers are required to either take a standardized test every year, or send a detailed list of their progress to a teacher with examples.
   
   You could also probably just look up laws in your state... I've had to do that for other subjects and it isn't that hard.

   I'm looking at homeschooling laws across Canada, and selecting certain states in the U.S. to add in more research since there are only nine provinces. The standardized test thing is pretty common.
   
   Knowing about California will help, though. In Canada it's mostly legislated, Quebec is the exception, so finding out why will be useful.
   
   (One reason I'm asking is I was never required to do anything. I never went to a public school, so the government didn't know I existed until I went to college. I didn't have to follow any regulations when homeschooled.)

   I know that in Indiana there's no laws for home schooling. I live in Ohio, but my mom always wanted to move to Indiana.
   
   As far as I know, here all we have to do is fill out this list of all the credits we fulfil each year, and we have to give a copy of test scores. That's about it.

   this may not be much help but my mom was watching tv and a government judge said, and i quote "as soon as your children step foot on the bus you are handing over any parenthood or authority you have over them ( your children) to the government"
