Favorite Bible Verse

11 posts in this topic.

  1. So, what's your favorite verse -- and why?

Mine is Philippians 4:7 - "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

This is my favorite because it got me through some really hard times, as a kind of beacon of hope for me, to remember that God is looking over me and guiding my steps, and that I can rest and be safe in Him.
  2. Proverbs 2:6

"For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding."

Considering that sometimes "understanding" is translated as "reason", the way I've always understood it is that God created the universe and gave us the means to know and understand it. We just happen to call this means science nowadays.

Basically, science comes from God, and, as the other Proverbs reiterate (such as Prov. 1:7, 2:2-5, and 9:10), He intends us to use it so that we may come to know Him better.
  3. I don't have a favorite Bible verse. But I have a favorite Bible story. It is the story of Samson.
  4. It would have to be Romans 8:28 All things work together for good, to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose That says, no matter how rubbish my circumstance may be, I belong to God so it will be alright for me in the end. Everything will turn out for my good.

The other verse would be Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. How can we not draw strength from such incredible promises?
  5. Mine is Joshua 1:9- "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid nor dismayed, for the Lord you God is with you wherever you go."

This is my favorite because it reminds me that I don't have to be afraid and God is always with me. Which in my life is a great relief....

Another favorite is more a passage -2 Corinthians 1:3-11

This is a favorite because one time in my life when I was lost I randomly opened my Bible to this and it is a passage about the God of Comfort and the instant I read it I felt God's hand around me and I was comforted. It was really really really cool.
  6. My favorite book is Ecclesiastes. Verses such as:

    "Ecclesiastes 3:19-21

For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity. All go to one place, all are from the dust, and all turn to dust again. Who knows whether the human spirit goes upward and the spirit of animals goes downward to the earth?"

This ones just funny! Proverbs 21:19 "Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife." XD
  7. Genesis 50:19-21a! It makes me realize that all the things I am struggling with can be converted into good, as long as God is on my side!
  8. Mine is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
I keep this verse on the wall above my bed. It has been a really great reminder to me this past year to trust God through both the good times and the bad.
I also love Romans 8:31: "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"
    We serve an amazing God!
  9. I love Micah 4:5-
"All the nations may walk in the name of their gods, but we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever."

    I think it's beautiful.
  10. Laminated, I love you! Bless you for that verse! :D xD
