Do I have to go to church to be a Christian??

What are some regulations you can think of that says "I'm a Christian"?? Well there is church...right? But does one have to go to church to be a christian??

Church is like school... you don't have to go to school if you want to educate yourself, but it's a heck of a lot easier and better. Being a Christian really doesn't have that much to do with rules and regulations. If you truly understand Jesus's sacrifice and that God is mighty, and you accept Christ as your savior and the leader of your life, you're a Christian, and that's all it takes.
Of course, you have to follow through with it and let God lead you, but He won't require anything you can't handle. -
Not going to church doesn't disqualify you from salvation

God is everywhere. Being a Christian is not going to church. It's getting to know Jesus. Learning about Him and following Him.
Though, if you find a church that follows Jesus as well, that's fantastic. But it's also good to remember that going to church is not being Christian. Spreading the world that you have learned comes before that. =) -
Thanks guys...I honestly was just wondering where you guys were, because having a common understanding with other believers is nice.
I do believe the same...Because we are the church, and yes it is good... and it is very much like school! lol. Thank you guys! -
I would say that it's very important to go to church! I mean... it helps you strengthen you in the faith and everything.

I agree with everyone so far. Not going to church does not determine your salvation, although it will really help and I encourage attendance.

Well definitely it does! But when you're in no access to a church, you could just gather some friends at a home and worship or hold a little bible study, and that'd be the same thing as going to a church and listening to a preacher...ya know? You could do things at home.

Absolutely! Sometimes that is even better when you need more one-on-one lessons and encouragement.
Also, I have been thinking about this topic, and there is something I would like to add:
Sometimes it is even better to stay away from church.
Before you fervent Christians out there touch that Quickreply button, let me explain.
Sometimes, going to church can actually hurt your walk with God. The reason I will talk about is that, like that quote on the Wall, not everyone who goes to church is a Christian.
In fact, some of the most nasty, wicked, immoral people I know go to church, call themselves Christians, and say "God this! God that! Praise the Lord!" everywhere. And if you are going to a church full of these kinds of people, you may not be seeing the real Christianity, and what God has to offer.This is especially important for us baby Christians.
And do not turn your back on church completely if you find yourself in a horribly wayward church. Try to find a new one, if possible, because good ones are out there if you look.
And ALL churches have their problems, and hypocrites, but as long as you can somehow separate yourself from them enough for you to be able to focus on God and the (Biblically correct) message, you should be fine.
And pray to God to give you strength, because you cannot persevere without His help.
So yeah, I hope I made sense, but that is what I had to say. -

And yeah, I agree with you Shiney. New Christians will look at the Hypocrisy and get turned off of Christ.

Wow, Shiney, I agreee! Like completely! I face those people every day at my school, but yet they have the guts to turn to an atheist and basically curse him! I mean sure the atheist has his problems, but those cursing him are no better...they are probably the reason he is an atheist...i am friends with the atheist at my school, and he really isn't an atheist, he knows God exists and everything he just isn't sure if he wants to trust in something he can't see, ya know? But the other people at school kind of gave him that title as an atheist. In which they have no right to have done so. But anyways, the two main things that the other people messed up on was 1.) they confronted him without displaying God's love, 2.) their own walk with the Lord was contradicting with what they were saying...But yaah, my point being...that you were right shiney! And we have to be careful that the churches we go to, don't feed us false things...like if what the pastor says doesn't match up with bible, and stuff like that...and as baby Christians we also need to find in what exactly we believe so when someone tries to shake our foundation, we aren't easily swayed...ya know?? And when we are solid in our foundation, we can go on to recruiting others for Christ...

Impossible, go right up to those Christians and tell them to read 1 John 4:20. Do it nicely, but tell them they need to read it, in regards to how they deal with non-Christains. Also, don't tell them what it is, that way they will find out themselves and will be confronted with it without having any excuse to call you self-righteous
