That horrible sad feeling you get when after writing/learning about poetry for school someone says "who else hates poetry now?" They hated writing it and learning about it. So sad! :(

Once we had to create poems about ourselves in school and one of my friends didn't know what to write about since he hated poetry. So, I just told him to write about why he hates poetry. After he wrote it, he said it wasn't that bad afterall! At least he tried anyways!

@TheUnknownWriter at least he tried! This just made me plain sad! Like a shot to my freaking heart! I love poetry!

I know right! When people tell me they hate it, I always ask them if they tried writing poetry. Once they do they either think it's not so bad, or hate it even more :( I dunno there are just different ways people express themselves *shrugs*

The hardest thing for me is when they say they don't like it because it rhymes or because it doesn't rhyme or because it is too sing songs or not sing songs enough. Like seriously people. You just haven't found a poet you Like yet. You might Not hate poetry, just the authors you have read. The worst is "I can't understand it." I introduce them to Billy Collins when I hear that one.
