ugh, i just love farming and adventure games
there's just something about them that's so appealing to me <3
(and even when i can romance in them!)

Yessss, true!! I lean more RPG when it comes to grinding (game I've logged most hours on is Ark: Survival Evolved!) but I'd be lying if I said I don't love just chilling with Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, especially on a rainy day off, with a warm drink and blanket...

SO anyway XD What would you say is your favorite so far?? ^^

    BunBunZu replied · Nov 2, 2025

even though i can and will crash out over being absolute stumped with a boss battle, HARVESTELLA (which also has farming!) will always be my favorite adventure game followed close by OCTOPATH TRAVERLER II, Sky: Children of the Light and Miitopia (and MANY more, to many-)

and when i say farming game, Stardew Valley is the one you think of first, but i haven't played it yet so (but i so want to!!), Potion Permit, and Summer in Mara are my favorites for farming games (and Animal Crossing, it's an amazing to play when bored)

but do you have any recommendations? i need some new games since i can never stick to one long enough to finish it ><

    Ravena replied · Nov 2, 2025

Ooo, I recognize Potion Permit and Octopath II!!! I'll have to chekc out those other ones!!!

Hmmmm, as for recommendations...Dragon Quest Builders 2 was really good! It had great little quests, a cute story, and awesome character design. Forager was interesting because it kinda had an old-school Zelda vibe to it too, and Graveyard Keeper was cool because it was a spookier and more macabre take on a "farm building" game lolll

That's just about what I can think up off the top of my head for now! ^^

    BunBunZu replied · Nov 2, 2025

the other games are just AMAZING!!! and the art in HARVESTELLA and Summer in Mara is just stunning!!!! (and so happy to have found another person who knows of Potion Permit!)

i think i may have heard of one of those games, but im not so sure, but they sound interesting! i will check them out since i will have lots of time on my hand for some time!!

    TheApatheticPurple replied · Nov 3, 2025

Agreed on Harvestella, the art for that game was SO good.

    BunBunZu replied · Nov 3, 2025

    LIKE SOOOO GOOD!!!!
they did not have to go that hard for the art but i'm glad they did

Can I just say... that I do not enjoy what I've seen from Mario Kart World?
I played Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii (a LOT), and have been playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for years. I don't currently intend on getting a Switch 2 but all the Mario Kart youtubers I watch have moved onto MKR and I still watch their content. Sure, MKR brings a lot more to the table with multiple paths, tricks, wall/rail riding, short cuts, and the open world. Some of the tracks even look really cool. Yet nothing in me wants to buy or play the game myself. I miss people playing MK8 Deluxe, even with all the problems with it. Maybe I have just formed a bias but idk, does anyone else have thoughts about Mario Kart World?? (AN $80 GAME)

My brother bought the game, and heck, I don't blame you! I don't want to bash the game or anything, it's very well made with cool visuals, but for such a biiiiiig price tag (on top of the price for the console), I just don't know...I mean, from the most logical perspective, you get new tracks, a somewhat open-world feature, new skins for characters, and a few new items right?? And not even half the characters that Mario Kart 8 had...Like, I would at least wait for a big sale!

Although, I will say that the new Rainbow Road looks sooo pretty!

NO DIDDY KONG THO??????? ;-; yes lets have a bat as a playable character but not one of the main peeps

    Spoiler
My husband thinks its because of the name... yikes

    TheApatheticPurple replied · Oct 29, 2025

I feel pretty neutral, and agree with the sentiment here. It seems like a fun game, but the price was outrageous. I’m also just bitter about the increasing prices for games overall, though. Somehow Hollow Knight is $20 and dominated charts for weeks, I’ve heard Little Nightmares III offers some kind if pass so your co-op partner can get the game pretty much for free, all while the average from Triple A studios can run as high as $120, no DLC or season pass. Sometimes, for just a re-release.

Anyway, there’s my tangent on this topic, haha. Yeah, if I’m playing Marii Kart, I’m still going to default to 8.

What?! O.O Diddy Kong is a classic tho!!

    Spoiler
And if that is the reason, that's just not fair ToT

Also, I didn't know THAT about Little Nightmares!! That is so coooooool, AHHHH I ca'nt wait to play that game already!!! :D

    Whats crazy is my husband went to buy Breath of the Wild and it was still $60-$70 even though the game has been out for EIGHT YEARS NOW and this is for the Nintendo Switch 1, not even 2. The prices of video games are CRIMINAL...thats why I just try to play what I have or buy things on sale ;-;

Oh yeah, I forgot they were making a second movie!! I'm really curious how they'll pull off the animatronics for that one, because 2 had some gnarly ones! Mangle...Puppet...

**meanwhile, getting PTSD flashbacks from that stupid BB laugh and anticipating a Foxy jumpscare XDD

What's everyone's pick for GOTY 2025? I feel like Expedition 33 has the greatest chance of winning, but I reeeaaally want Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 to win!

I've never been THIS obsessed with a new release before, mostly because I didn't used to have a platform capable of running brand new games. So this is the first time I'm actually excited for GOTY results :3

    Ravena replied · Oct 23, 2025

Ooo, good question!! And honestly, you never know anymore!

I'm willing to bet that top spot will be between Expedition 33, Hollow Knight Silksong, and maybe Split Fiction?? Kingdom Come made quite a buzz too, so if it doesn't take top spot, it should at least snag some honorable mentions! Looks like such a well-made game ~

Oh—I also wouldn't put it past Donkey Kong Bananza! The Nintendo games always catch you by surprise in these situations >.>

Not sure which I would vote on personally...Although in fairness, I haven't done a ton of new gaming this year (save for Silent Hill F, which drained my gaming budget ToT) lol. Hmmm...I would cast a very hesitant vote for Split Fiction? I can't speak to the gameplay since i only watched the streams, but the story and style were SO cool!

    Wolfi replied · Oct 23, 2025

Would you say Split Fiction is different enough from It Takes Two, which already won GOTY? Haven't watched/played it yet but am excited to!!

    Ravena replied · Oct 23, 2025

Hm, good point...I won't spoil anything, but I think it's only similar in the sense that it's split-screen co-op! Like story, narrative, and design-wise, it's TOTALLY different and super cool! Some of the visuals from that game were just *chef's kiss*

Also, it really speaks to you if you're a writer, I won't spoil why ;D

    TheApatheticPurple replied · Oct 23, 2025

Even though Kingdom Come II was awesome, I think either Donkey Kong or Expedition 33 is going to take the title. Also, can attest, Split Fiction is great, really good gameplay too.

    goodolnoah replied · Oct 24, 2025

I mean the one out of the nominees that I've played so far is Expedition 33. It's basically become a classic in the RPG genre over night. Plus it's graphics, story, and gameplay are like nothing I've ever seen before lol. It's just polish after polish after polish on that game.

Silksong is a great pick but it is competing against some HEAVY Competition. I think Death Stranding 2 is also in the running, and I heard it was great as well.

Either way it feels like we ALL win cuz we have been spoiled as gamers this year!

    Ravena replied · Oct 25, 2025

OMG, right, Death Stranding 2! I mean I know next to nothing about it story-wise or gameplay-wise, but I did see some gameplay footage and it looks like a really well-made game. I wouldn't be shocked if that one snagged some titles!

And very true, Noah! This was a great year for games!! :D

It seems like a ton of new games and add-ons are scheduled to be released soon, and many have the gaming community in an uproar (in a good way!)

Are there any upcoming releases that you're particularly excited for? How about a new game that you're already enjoying? Please do share!

I have a question that I would love to explore with you guys! I especially feel like this is good to ask in the current gaming atmosphere. Likewise, this is a neutral question: all answers are welcome, and I'd love to see your reasoning!!

Question: Do you consider video games, or tabletop games, to be a legitimate form of storytelling? Do you think they are more of a "toy" in comparison to books and film, or do you classify them as their own category?

    goodolnoah replied · Aug 4, 2025

Video Games (I don't know enough about tabletop games lol) are my FAVORITE method of storytelling lol so yeah definitely! My favorite stories in like...anything ever are video game stories. People like Yoko Taro and Hideo Kojima who make game-based narratives are some of my favorite creators in the PLANET.
