  2. but my blood is not golden

    gold on your eyelids
    and glitter on your tongue
    i remember you like ambrosia
how could i forget my new apollo
my rough hands on your broad shoulders
as i lean down to kiss away the poison
    on your silver tongue
you made it specially for me
    to help me forget
    your teeth are serrated pearls
    that cut my lips
my part is easier to master
    my blood is viscous honey
    just for you
    you'll always shimmer more brightly
    after i've bled
  3. The Self Less Angel

    Pure,
    light,
An air of love in her every manner,
    Was the selfless angel.

Her wings caressed the meek and broken,
Breathing gently over their tear-stained garments.
Minutes upon hours she treated them with care,
Upturned, her pink lips and a quiet stare.

    Gathered from near and far
the woes of others to be blessed by her.
    free of their lamentations,
    unchained by their suffering,
    wishing to be,

    Pure,
    light,
Like her air of tenderness in her every word
    Like the selfless angel.

The murk of moonlight passed over.
    The angel,
    now all alone.
With no one she awoke and and with no one she returned.

Tired wings now enwrapped on her own weary soul.
Her gown smelled of weeping eyes dried,
Not her own as she could not cry.

    This angel was selfess,
    No shoulder to rest on,
but shoulders to carry the weight off of others.

A frame to behold but not to be held,
    A light to the others,
but what light of her own?

What light to turn to in her own dispair?
Frantically searching, but none did appear.

    Pure,
    light,
An air of love and tenderness the cast of her shadow
Was the self-less, no self for her own,
    the empty,
    the burdened,
    Angel alone.
  4. This is a reverse poem. It is meant to be read both ways to represent two women's thoughts about each others body.

    Her Figure

    I gaze at her figure
    So elegant a frame
Her dainty arms, her long torso, her smooth legs
She is a sculptors work of art
    Unlike my own
    How her form glows
The sun seems to shine just for her
So that all may be engulfed by her beauty
    She walks with confidence
    Displayed in every step
    Each curve
How I wish it were mine
    I gaze at her figure
  5. Submission One!!

    CLICK
    Our fingers swipe, click:heart.
Sitting in bed, scrolling through pictures of glory, smiles and luxury
Posing with a huge smile as if nothing is wrong in the world
Luxury and wealth displayed in every post
    It is all fake
Snobs, rude, born with a silver spoon
Doesn’t it all seem too perfect? Is it really possible?
Fame, popularity, fans screeching at you as you walk
    You're a celebrity

    Blood
    Danger
    Hatred
    Misconceptions
    Envy

    Isn’t it all too perfect?
Isn’t it all too fun to ruin?

It’s not what it seems. The world isn’t what it looks like.
The higher you climb, the higher you fall.
  6. submission one:mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all

    cw: body image

    "skin of ivory,
    topaz freckles.

    ellipse-framed face,
    chocolate waves for hair.

    silk soft hands,
    immaculate nails."

    that's what they see,
    that's what they say.

    she curls in upon herself,
in an attempt to hide from the mirror's prying eyes.

    it fails and
the mirror beckons with spider web cracks for fingers.

it sees what they do not,
hidden cunningly beneath a shiny exterior.

dark dank rot taking root in her core,
spreading from lung to rib; running black hot in her veins.

it sees the void behind eyes of sea and pebbles,
a festering knot of decay and spoil.

the mirror sees what nobody else sees
and smiles with sharpened canines and speaks truths in silver tongues.
  7. Looking at dull gold (submission one)

    Your eyes sparkle with joy.
    Your smile radiates light.
Your reflection shimmers in the water
like twinkling stars in the night sky.

    I only saw gold.
I thought your luminance would somehow
    line my pockets with shining gold bars;
all I did was remove the light in your life.

Money is power, and power corrupts.
    I ruined you; broke you,
but still your glass shards glittered
    in the sunlight, as tears
    struck
    the
    fra
    gil
    e
    surface

I held the fake, still heart in my hands.
When was the last time I felt my pulse?
Dull eyes looking at dull gold,
for my heart stopped shining eons ago.
  8. At home, she was beautiful,
    He said to her
'Beautiful, Pa calls you beautiful, so, so will I'

    At school, she was caring,
    He said to her
'Don't pick me up, I can walk'

    At hospice, she was protective,
    He said to her
'It's not so scary, I can watch'

    At bedside, she was mourning,
    He said to her
'Pa is here always, don't you forget'

    At church, she was crying,
    He said to her
'I'll be here always, don't you worry'

In three months, she was pregnant,
    He said to her
'Stepfather? don't even bother, did you cheat'

In the house, she was step-family,
    He said to her
'I can't stay here, do you care'

In the park, she was apologetic,
    He said to her
'Aren't I your boy, what about me'

In the station, she was caring,
    He said to her
'I kept my promise, why couldn't you'

In the city, she was beautiful,
    He said to her
'Ma, Glitter is not gold, Ma, you showed me'

I have lived through much, and now I think I have found what is needed for happiness. A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good... then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbor - such is my idea of happiness.
