   I really like the idea of keeping track of my books read this year in a forum type format, it feels a lot swankier than my typical notes list
   
   
   Book #1: A Court of Thorns and Roses
   Overall Rating: 7/10
   
   I’ve been intrigued by this book for awhile, but never got around to reading it until I was gifted it for Christmas. I wasn’t sure of it at first, mainly because I had a hard time connecting with the main character at first, but the magical world it is set in ended up more than making up for that. I’m a sucker for good world building and fantastical faeries. There is a fair amount of *ahem* spiciness in ACOTAR, which I had heard about and was one of the factors that made me so hesitant to read in to begin with. However, it didn’t bother me for the most part. I think I’ll be reading at least the next book in the series, if not all of them.

   Book #2: Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood
   Author: Ann Brashares
   Overall Rating: Impossible to put into numbers, this series is very dear to me.
   
   What to say, what to say. First off, I find it funny that I’ve managed to find all of the books in this series ridiculously cheap, this one was only $3 at Books-A-Million. I’ve read these books slowly over the last couple years, somehow accidentally only getting hold of the next one when the girls in the book are about the same age as me. I’ve grown up with them, in a way, and they feel very real in my mind. If you ever need a heartfelt series, this is my go to recommendation.

   Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is one of the foundational books of my youth <3 Love, love, love that whole series!!

   Book #3: In the Shadow Garden
   Author:Liz Parker
   Overall rating: 7/10
   
   A perfect book to quench my thirst for a magical mystery! The characters were lovely and I appreciated the classic feud between two families. It reminded me of a grown up take on the Bliss series that was a favorite of mine as a child. I would have rated it higher, but sometimes the writing itself would become a little bland which is why I think it took me so long to finish it. I highly recommend giving it a try though!

   Book #4: An Elderly Lady Is Up To No Good
   Author: Helene Tursten
   Overall Rating: 8/10
   
   Who knew murder and an elderly lady could go so well together? This was a delightful and quick read, it’s a collection of 5 short stories that just kept getting better and better. I will definitely be checking out more of Helene Tursten’s crime/investigator books. I haven’t read many books that have be translated (the original is in Swedish in this case),this book is making me think that I should look for translated ones more often.

   Ahhh I almost forgot to say that it’s also the tiniest book I’ve ever owned, I can fit it in my coat pocket! Its size is what made me pick it up in the first place, anything smaller is just automatically cuter.
