Today's our last day of Camp NaPo, looking back on all that you've accomplished should give you the last bit of inspiration you need to look forward to NaPo. Memories can also be great inspiration for poetry. Reflecting on a physical location that is meaningful to you can elicit an extended poetic meditation and produce some really fantastic things! NaPo Survial Tip:
To theme or not to theme that is the question...
Pros of choosing a theme: Gives your poetry direction, allows you to deeply explore one poetic idea, can help you establish a poetic style and voice, helps your poetry seem unified.
Cons of choosing a theme: Can limit your poetic expression, if it's too limiting can really stifle your creativity, can make your poetry too repetitive or redundant.
Strategy Suggestion: Start thinking of a theme before April 1st so you can let it sit for a while and you can decide whether it'll fit or not, also unless you're really sold on one theme make sure you choose something broad enough to fit the whole range of your poetry. Also if you get half-way through and realize it's not working, there is no rule or napo police who are going to tell you not to change it. You own your thread, so change it if you want! Daily Challenge
In today's challenge you're going to have to be really intentional about setting up the meaning, because the challenge is to create a poem with DOUBLE MEANING. This is a great strategy for making a re-readable and the poetic technique is sometimes called double-entendre. Double meaning can be created on a small scale by using words or phrases that can be interpreted in two ways or on a larger scale by making an entire metaphor that isn't revealed until the end. @alliyah's slam poetry article has a section on double meaning which you can reference for more information.
