NaPo Survial Tip:
To theme or not to theme that is the question...
Pros of choosing a theme: Gives your poetry direction, allows you to deeply explore one poetic idea, can help you establish a poetic style and voice, helps your poetry seem unified.
Cons of choosing a theme: Can limit your poetic expression, if it's too limiting can really stifle your creativity, can make your poetry too repetitive or redundant.
Strategy Suggestion: Start thinking of a theme before April 1st so you can let it sit for a while and you can decide whether it'll fit or not, also unless you're really sold on one theme make sure you choose something broad enough to fit the whole range of your poetry. Also if you get half-way through and realize it's not working, there is no rule or napo police who are going to tell you not to change it. You own your thread, so change it if you want!
