Tgirly's Goals

25 posts in this topic.

  1. Goals:

    4 hours a week.
I know a lot of people do word count, but for my own writing style I find counting hours much more accurate for counting productivity. I'm on Draft 4, so I'm really trying to take my time and write slowly.

    5-10 pages every two weeks
I know this is vague, but I'm using my novel as my Honor's Thesis and this is how much I need to get to my professor consistently to keep her happy and keep me on track.
  2. I'm doing NaNoWriMo in May, so just finished day one!
    Today: 536
    Total: 536

It's not a full day's worth, since I also finished my (last!) college paper today as well, but now that I've got that out of the way, I'm not worried about the slow start. The novel's working title is "Banana Peels Heal Bruises".
  3. Today: 0
    Total: 536
    Tomorrow's goal: 2,000
  4. Total: 734
    Tomorrow's Goal: 3,000
  5. Total: 1130
Tomorrow, I'm likely to have a lot more time. Its total goal is 5,000.
  6. Total: 2962
    Tomorrow's total goal: 5,000
I also tentatively renamed the story "Poke Berry Salad". Poke berry salads are interesting because they're edible, but you have to soak the leaves like three times, or else they're poisonous. But some people doing think they have healing properties.
  7. Total: 3962 (so I wrote exactly a thousand today. Weird!)
    Tomorrow's goal: 6,000
Also, I graduated college today! Yay!
  8. Total: 7160
    Tomorrow's goal: 10,000
I'm going to try to hit the half-way mark (25,000) by the end of the 16th, but we'll see.
  9. Total: 8,554
    Tomorrow's goal: 12,000
  10. Total: 8,708
Tomorrow's Goal: Ummmm, let's say 14,000? Just like, a lot.
  11. REVISION:
QuaNoWriMo is both working and not working as-is. On the one hand, I'm much more productive and my writing momentum is increasing, which is kind of the whole point of this, to help me prepare for Grad School. But on the other hand, I'm starting to feel a little frustrated that the goal is seeming less and less possible, and that's starting to hamper my motivation. SO, I've decided QuaNoWriMo is a 2-month party, where I write 50,000 words over the course of May AND June.

    Total: 10175
    Tomorrow's Goal: 12500
  12. You can do it!
  13. Total: 11,117
    Tomorrow's Goal: 13,333

    (Thanks, alliyah! :D )
I also did some behind-the-scenes planning for the next chunk of the book, and changed some defining traits about one of my main characters, so it's been more productive than it looks!
  14. Total: 12,560
    Tomorrow's Goal: 15,500

My main goal for tomorrow is to figure out this big back story plot point that I'm not quite sure about, but is really influencing the main characters, so if I can get that ironed out tomorrow, I'll be pretty satisfied.
  15. Total: 14,193
    Tomorrow's Goal: 17,000

I got that backstory figured out, and half-written! It opened up WAY more questions about the chronology of this novel than I expected it to, so I'm also going to try to spend some time either during tomorrow or the next day's writing sessions to do some quick plot mapping as well.
