    Happy May Haiku Month <3

    alliyah wrote:Happy May everyone! May is the 5th month of the year, so it's Haiku Month here on YWS! (The chill younger-sibling to NaPo)

    Here's some #MayHaiku threads to remember ~
    * Haiku Train
    * Life by Haiku
    * Haiku Battle!
    * Our special May Haiku activity for this year: The May Haiku Collection
    * It's also a perfect excuse to share surprise friendship poem haikus on people's walls during May!

    Directions for haiku writing if it's something new for you ~
    * Traditionally haiku tackles a nature theme, can be read in a single breath, and often have some type of "turn" or "reveal" at the end - though you're welcome to write them however you'd like and play with different themes!
    * Haiku should usually have 3 lines with the first line having 5 syllables, the second line having 7 syllables, and the third line having 5 syllables. (though some modern haiku movements reject this ;) )
    * If you're not sure about syllables syllable counter websites can help you out!
