I'm trying Chinese calligraphy painting this year!! Hahaha hopefully it doesn't go too poorly.

Haha well I had some ideas for like... looking at a faraway land through a telescope? Was almost there on the second one, and then I didn't wait long enough before I did the outside circle. But the effect is neat, so here it is. -

All of this is traditional medium! I just have a very very good scanner, and the traditional ink creates a full range of greyscale values, which makes the scan look true-to-intent with very little editing.

Ohhh no way! Yeah that traditional ink wow <3 Where it feathers on the edges like in the last one, is that it interacting with water?

Yep! I laid down some water to rough out the right shape and then added in a few shades of grey to get the shades and contours to bleed into each other. It's kind of fun; you can manipulate the ink to get a clean gradient or let it do that feathering bleed.

I bought rice paper
Anyway if I had done this one ten times instead of four maybe I would have gotten a nicer one but. I didn't want to use all my rice paper. -
A few different takes on today's prompt... the character pa (first one!) is so fun to write. : D
