I just bought 32 really pretty markers that were half price in the stationery shop when I dropped in to buy safety pins (side-note: I'm going to an interactive Great Gatsby thing tomorrow with my mum, and the only flapper dress I have is full length so I'm going to see how well I can pin up the bottom of it!)
I'm a terrible artist but I love to try, and I love stationery, so it's not that weird a purchase, but also not a fiscally responsible one.
Half-price though...

Is it bad that half my impulse buys are for work? I mean, it's books, so I think it's a bit more... well. It kinda helps me not impulse buy books for me, but well.
Basically between me and the 'rents we rounded up five big boxes of old books (textbooks of mine/the brother, dad's old sales books, and some odd fiction titles we just didn't want *coughkingsolvercough*) and turned them in at the only used book store anywhere near us, got 20 in store credit, and then proceeded to spend all of it and then some on books for work. And one for me. I have a problem.

Even though I'm not returning to school until next year, I went to Meijer and blew a bunch of money on school supplies. The plan was to wait for it all to go on clearance this year and then buy it and save money, but...I just got so excited.
I didn't buy notebooks, though. They have super cheap ones right now, but all with that paper cover that tears if you open it too much. Hoping the good ones will go on clearance in September...
Dress patterns when they were on sale at Joanne's. I'm the worst at using a sewing machine, but I bought them anyway. Sir has done more with the sewing machine than I have, but not much. Now that we've rearranged the basement, maybe?
Makeup whenever my favorite brands send out coupons, which is funny because I never even used to wear makeup. I like getting gussied up in my old age. But at least I use that. -
I dunno, when I impulse buy, I have no regrets. That could just be because I'm stubborn, or because I'm secretly a genius. I bought a vegetti, but I DON'T REGRET IT :3 Veggie noodles are the best. Cat wine. I definitely don't regret that 8D One of those cheap automatic vaccuum cleaners that chase around the cat? Also don't regret that :3
I bought a ukulele. Also don't regret that. xD Drawing tablet ... okay, I might not use it so much but it is THERE.
Though. My worse impulses are with games and kindle books. I have SOOO many kindle books I have yet to read. And SOOO many games I have yet to play. -

So the thing I bought recently that is pretty big is THINX underwear. XP It's really expensive but I'm pretty dang sure it will be worth it. Also I'm not sure it was an impulse buy, because I've sorta been planning/procrastinating buying it for over a year. Can't wait for it to arrive. O>O
Mostly my impulse stuff is art supplies. So I try not to go into the craft store where my sister works very often, because I'll end up coming out with cool pens, or not pads, or paint brushes, or paint medium, or or NEEDLE FELTING NEEDLES <3 or air-dry clay.
Also something else I've been doing lately and trying not to is buying things for work. AKA toys Dx Like. I kinda wanna put together of thing s I can pull out for kids to do if they're bored at the end of the day with me (like the other day I bought a fidget cube, but I've like things that are more entertaining then that 'cause that's just for fidgeting). Like last spring I bought a huge thing of bubbles and bubble wands for the kids (well worth it), and Dory Bandaids. -
What age kids? Because card decks. Teach them games. All sorts of games. And, ya know, let them build card houses, too. That, and string for cat's cradle.
Also, all the office supply stores have back to school sales right now.
It's a problem.
I keep going back. Folders, pens, sharpies. POST ITS. In my defense everything but the post-its were a penny, and the sharpies were 20 cents each. -
Yus, cards are a good idea. Cats cradle isn't something I've thought of, so that might be fun as well! Usually at the end of the day it's just me and a pair of siblings (who are tired of eachother and cranky and into trying to murder eachother) so I'm thinking of getting some things like rubrics cubes, etc. And two player things is really good as well. Also Mesh, my kids are anywhere from 5 - 12, but mostly 6 - 9. In the past when there's just a couple kids left, I'll do things like show them how to make a certain origami thing (which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't XP but it's fun). I'm also trying to get them more interested in books! Not many of them tend to be interested in me reading for them, but occasionally they'll pick something out for me to read.
The other reason I like the 'fun bag' idea is for when I babysit. I like being able to pull out things to entertain the kids. But what I really like is pulling out a book from my bag at the end of the day when they're all tired and reading with them. It's like snuggle time! That's what I'd like at my work, too, but I'm not sure if that will happen. -
@Holysocks THINX AW YEAH. Oh, man. Oh. Oh. They were basically an impulse buy for me the first time, although Lemmy had told me about alternatives to pads and tampons before, so I wasn't ~totally~ clueless. And then I think I planned the second time, and then the third time they had some on clearance or something so I was like, "Okay, yes, I could use more of these."
Also: art supplies, yeeeees. Also jewelry making supplies, even though I haven't made a lot of jewelry yet? But we went to the Michigan Fiber Festival yesterday, and there was a vendor there with ALL THE BEADS and various other bits and pieces, plus the ceramic beads were fair trade and made by women in Kenya to support themselves, and I think I spent $30 on beads that I might not use for several months. -
@Holysocks @BlueAfrica omg I've so been wanting to try the Thinx even though I'm also kind of skeptical like I don't understand how it can work. PLEASE TELL ME IF IT'S GOOD.

@Demeter, I heard about it through Blue awhile ago, and apparently they do work well! But Blue would be able to tell you more. Mine still haven't arrived yettttt. But I'll keep you updated!

I impulsed bought a kiddy golf set. I have no regrets...
For myself, it's all about food. Like. Calamari rings. One needs to have those in the freezer, always. And, flossing sugar. Because one needs to be able to make cotton candy at a moment's notice. -

I am one of those people who normally no matter how much I like a place or product, I won't recommend it to people unless asked because I just don't do that.
But THINX. Every time their add comes up in my feed on Facebook, I'm like, "SHARING AGAIN BECAUSE EVERY MENSTRUATING WOMAN DESERVES A PAIR." -
I am eyeing a basket for storage.
