The Ryders

  1. No link yet

Siblings Elspeth and Nickolai Ryder have grown up around magic. They’ve been trained as warriors since they were old enough to hold a sword. But when they discover a boy creeping around in their basement, it will change their lives forever....
  2. Sorry, vault. Not basement
  3. What was the boy doing in the vault?
  4. He had been dared by his girlfriend to do it but got lost.
  5. I don't really have a clear idea on your story, especially with the dreaded 'change their lives forever...' thing. Are there any other details about the plot you can outline?
  6. Of course! The boy creeping around is actually the son of the two most evil sorcerers currently living - the ones Elspeth and Nicko’s parents dedicated their lives to killing. As you can imagine, this creates some chaos. There’s also a confusing bit that I can’t really say much about but it involves a Power Stone.
  7. What is a Power Stone?
  8. It’s basically a super unstable, super powerful jewel that amplifies the powers of the person wielding it in different ways. Fairies usually have their elemental magic amplified, dark mages become less able to control their powers (so not really much help to them.) It also has some magic of its own and has a consciousness.
  9. This sounds interesting! Not only is the premise intriguing, but the characters have some pretty neat names.

I'm guessing the boy is actually a pretty good person. What's his name, and what's he like?
  10. His name’s Aranmore. He’s a great swordfighter and is very loyal to his friends. Despite his fighting ability, he prefers reading and going for walks to battles.
  11. Oooh, cool! I love him already with a name like that. So why is he different than his parents?
  12. He witnessed his mother murdering his friend, an eleven-year-old girl named Cara. His mother had been fine with their friendship until Cara decided she didn’t want to be part of evil and tried to kill her. She was captured and her power extracted. Aranmore decided he never wanted to be like that.
  13. That's a great tragic backstory right there. Does he frequently reference Cara and mourn her throughout the story? (For example, is he shown visiting her grave?)
  14. Does Aranmore's mother know that Aranmore resents her? Is their relationship strained at all?

Plus, as I'm a great believer in antagonistic characters being rounded and human, what good traits do Aranmore's parents have? Who do they care about most?
  15. Did he show open rebellion to his parents after he witnessed Cara's murder?

Who is his girlfriend? Do his parents know about their relationship and approve? If they approved, then I am assuming she was evil, too.

Death is only the end if you assume the story is about you.
