Hey guys, Weirdo here, and this thread is for my novel Reality. Lately, I've been focussig only on my lms novel, and I need motivation to continue my other projects, including Reality, my first attemp at writing.

Brief Description of Story:
Cassandra, a young girl finds out that the people who raised her and told her were her parents were actually not, they were her aunt and uncle(maternal), and her real parents died fighting Andromeda, a hollow(evil wizaeds and witches become Hollows thanks to some enchanments cast by the wizards of the secret society).
She also finds out she has a twin sister she never knew about, Scylla. The book follows Cassandra, Scylla, Hanna and Berry(Cassandra's best friends from back when she did not know about crazy magic stuff) and Ross and Cleo(their cousins, Cassandr grew up believing Cleo was her older sister, and Scylla grew up with her paternal aunt and unvle, believing they were her parents and Ross, their son was her brother. They all learn magic in the training facility, and eventually, Andromeda makes her way back, with plans to over throw The Secret Society and take revenge for the delay in her rise to power, by murdering Scylla and Cassandra.
There is also a prophecy saying that once Andromeda is destroyed, more evil forces will return, there will be a 'Chosen One'(I intent on changing this, since as it is, this is already similar to Harry Potter), two twins that assist him/her(Cassandra and Scylla), and a huge army of witches and wizards that will fight with this group, against the evil forces, so they are sending a cry for help through writing a book. Those who know about the wizarding world know the truth behind the story, others believe it to be fictional. But the story ends at this cliffhanger, saying the adventure never ends, we just don't always know about it.

This sound interesting! I admit that when I read the word "hollow" I was thinking more of Bleach than Harry Potter. I'm not sure if you've seen Bleach, but are the hollows anything like the ones from that anime? And if you haven't seen Bleach, what exactly are hollows like?

How is the relationship between Cassandra and Scylla when they first meet? Do they get along? Is it SUPER awkward? Do they clash and hate each other at first?

The hollows are based on the ones in the movie Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Hollows are taller than humans, have thin hands and legs, one eye, their skin usually a shade of grey, and they, unlike most monsters and other magical stuff, are invisible to the mortal eye.

It is awkward at the beginning but they soon became friends. But then Scylla is blackmailed by Andromeda, and she has to play spy for Andromeda or her best friend who was a mortal would be killed. Scylla knew her friend, Summer, almost all her life, but had not know Cassandra that well, so she plays spy.
Andromeda frames Scylla to make it look like Scylla had not been blackmailed after all. Cassandra starts hating her. Scylla, on the other hand did not know about Andromeda framing her and thought Cassandra was angry just because she had chose Summer over her. She is also angry with her sister. Eventually, they discover the truth and work together and by the end, they are still not as close as twins would be, but closer than when they met. -
Oh, I've seen that! That's a cool basis for the ones in your book.
Is magic a hereditary thing in your novel, or can anyone use it if they know how? -

It's hereditary. Though there is a magical way to give powers to someone who doesn't already have them, but it is very complicated and has almost everytime gone wrong. -

So basically, they turn into a different version of Hollows. These are visible to the mortal eye and they mostly spend the rest of their days hiding from mortals in deserted places and are not evil, unless the mortal was originally evil.
In fact, it was this that inspired the Secret Society to put enchantments on dark magic to minimize their use. -
Interesting! Do your protagonists encounter any of these other Hollows?

Yes, in fact, some of them help them against Andromeda in the final war. They play spy as it is a bit difficult to differentiate between Hallows.

I see! You make it sound like there's a secret difference between the two. Is there? And if there is, what's the difference?

The only other difference between two Hollows is their spirit wands.
So basically, every magical living thing has a wand that exists in a separate reality. And mostly, it would be summoned at the time of need through simple magic. In the novel, after death, re-birth is believed, but even at that time, you would use the same wand you used your last life. This wand can't be destroyed, but some enchantments can be used to block their summoning.
The difference is that the once-mortal-now-Hollows don't have such wands, and Hollows do, but they can't summon it unless they are very good in the dark arts and can somehow deflect the enchantments.
But most of the Hollows weren't that good so it was easy for the spies to blend in. -
I've got a question about the family. Why were Cassandra and Scylla raised apart? Why didn't their maternal aunt and uncle offer to bring both of them up? It seems needlessly deceptive (and quite dubious, actually) to separate them.

There is a particular kind of magic twins can do, even without summoning their wands. But this magic can't be controlled properly by minors.
They couldn't know about their magic as their aunt and uncle feared this way they will eventually find out about their parent's death, and it's a whole different story why they could not have that happen. So they raised them separately. -
Ah, that's cool! Do Cassandra and Scylla resent their aunts and uncles for lying to them, even if they understand why they did it?
