Introduction: Hi, my name is occymay. My story is called The Cursed King.

Brief Description of Story: In the continent of Sun lay the city of Silvermore famed for its peaceful King and Queen. However, there is trouble brewing as the King's nature becomes erratic and he starts hurting his people over trivial matters. The queen brings in the notorious Ezekiel (Zeke), a magician known for dabbling in dark magic, to help find the caused. She believes the King had been cursed and sends Zeke to find the sorcerer behind it.
Story's Genre: High Fantasy
Setting: This story starts in the city of Silvermore with it beautiful silver castle spilt between the Queen of the west and the King of the East. The city of Silvermore is situated in the Silver Kingdom. South of the Silver Kingdom is the coastal kingdom of Morgana and its capital city, Una. To the west is barren land and far north it becomes icy wastes. West lays the chaotic kingdoms of Dorn and Shin. Part of the book will follow Zeke around the land in search of the cause of the King's curse and the other is set in Silvermore following the King's worsening condition.

This story sounds so cool! Not only do I love the protagonist's name, but I'm also a sucker for any story that has the main character dabbling in dark magic. Speaking of which, why does Zeke dabble in it in the first place? Also, is dark magic genuinely a bad thing, or is it a wrongful stereotype in your world?

Thank you! Zeke is the kind of character that likes to do things for the thrill. His dad is one of the Queen's knights and has been strict ever since Zeke's mother passed away. Dabbling in dark magic is Zeke's way of rebelling. Dark magic is something I haven't explored yet but I would like to make it so there are elements of good and bad to it but overall has an evil image.

@Lael The king sentences a lot of people to death over things like theft. At his worst, he tries to send a pregnant mother to death but the Queen steps in which she shouldn't do because the King's people are not under her jurisdiction. This when puts a target on her back and as the curse gets stronger the King's emotional ties to her become weaker (I don't know if I mentioned it but the queen is his wife). After she saves the women the King attacks her, throwing her against the wall. Unknown to the readers and to the King, the queen is actually pregnant and loses the baby as a result of the attack.
@BlueAfrica The curse is caused by a sorcerer, named Canter, and it isn't really a curse as such. Canter summons a demon to possess the King and as time goes by the demon becomes stronger. In the first book, Canter seems like a lone wolf but in the second book, it's realised that he was part of a bigger scheme. Your second question actually connects because these two chaotic countries are at war. Dorn is trying to take control of Shin through force because they want to be the rulers of the continent. They hire a sorcerer to try to break down the kingdom of Silver by using the king as the catalyst of its own destruction, making them easier to take over. -
Do you have a supporting character that doesn't show up too often, but still plays a big role in the story? Or do any supporting characters that do tend to stick around?

A lot of the Queen's knights and servants won't show up often but help the Queen through the tough time.
Zeke will meet travelling companions and leaves with his pet dragon Fluff. He first meets an orphan girl in the coastal city of Una. She is a sightseer giving her the ability to see something coming well before anyone else. He also meets a disabled beserker and a dark sorceress in Dorn. -
They all sound like pretty neat characters. So what exactly is Fluff like? Because pet dragons are something I definitely would have wanted when I was little, and I'm torn between imagining a cute baby sized dragon and a gigantic regular sized one.

Thank you! @Saen He's like Mushu from Mulan though unfortunately, he doesn't talk. He'll make little noises when he agrees and disagrees with something and only Zeke knows what he is saying.

So why does the queen bring in Zeke of all people? Are there no other ways to solve the king's curse?

There are multiple reasons. 1. What's going on with the King is definitely dark magic and although Silvermore is famed for its powerful magicians none of them like go near dark magic or learn about it. Therefore they can't figure out what the cause might as it's complex dark magic. 2. Zeke trained with the magicians of Silvermore but was expelled from their ranks when he was caught dabbling in dark magic. The magicians had high hopes for him as he was very talented with magic. 3. The queen has a soft spot troubled causes and this is a great way to build his reputation back up. -
Are your antagonists straight out evil, or are they a little more morally complex? (Either one is good, but I'm just really curious!)

Because Canter is hired he's primarily in it for the money and although not inherently bad he's still performing bad deeds. The leaders of Dorn believes that they doing good for their world by taking over but are causing death and suffering as a result. So a bit of before really. -
That sounds interesting! I love how there's multiple parts to your antagonists - first there's Canter, and then there's the people who hired him.
Earlier you mentioned that a demon was possessing the king. What exactly is this demon like? And are they happy about having to possess the king, or are they just kind of going with it because they have to?
