Welcome to The Compendium!
This Tournament of a needlessly fancy title hopes to pit writer against writer in bouts of pure world-building each week until one stands supreme!
We're not covering the broad details in this competition-- No, we're covering the dressing of a world. The back-log of a bestiary, the mysterious ingredient in a Soothsayer's brew. Without further ado, here are the rules!
-Each week, a topic will be selected. All participants shouldn't stray to far from the given topic. What we're mostly looking for are descriptive pieces. That's not to say you can't freshen things up-- Maybe you'll have snippets of a scholars notes, or children's chants about whatever doo-dad or plant you're writing about. Or even short, fully written encounters. Whatever it is, make sure to stay on theme.
-Submissions should be... er.. submitted on time. If you need an extension or a sub, contact me, but these should be last-resorts. Enter this competition with the intention of pulling through.
-The first participant to complete their piece should create a thread titled "The Compendium Competition- Round [Insert] - [Name of participant]" All other submissions will be placed in this thread.
Well, that ought to do it-- As you can see these rules are quite lenient. To summarise; stay on topic, submit on time and submit properly. If you've got any questions, hurl them at me like a custard pie and I'll be sure to answer.
Once all submissions have been submitted or the time allotted has ended, voting will begin. If we can't gather enough traffic for voting, I'll act as a Judge, along with whoever else I can grab.

Alrighty, that ought to do it-- Sharpen your pens, and bring your most creative and vibrant creations to the table! If it comes to me judging, I value creativity, immersion and intrigue the most in this kind of thing.

Not *quite* sure I understand what we're supposed to write for each submission. -

Heh, not quite sure why everyone latched onto my wording with consent.
Also, I realize it's a tad vague-- More elaboration on round one, but I'll throw the gist here;
Each week contestants will be given a theme (Ecology, religion, ect) and draw their answers from a Fantasy world they've created in the past (or made up on the spot). They'll right a descriptive piece about this theme, with whatever else they want to add on top.
Like I said, it'll be easier to elaborate and explain once we have our theme. -
Haha, that was a "consent" from me with a "?" to kind of denote the "I'm-not-sure-what-I'm-actually-agreeing-to" upward swing in inflection.

Alright folks, I suppose we're diving in with just four contestants.

Question: When you say "single world" can it be a world that we've adapted for something like fanfiction or does it have to 100% be our own
Question 2: Does it have to only be one "world" or like, could there be two "worlds" like a world where humans live and a world where other things live? Is it one "Story" or one continuous piece of land/mass floating in one universe? -
Answer: Generally I'd prefer that the world you use be you're own personal creation.
Answer 2: When I say world, I basically mean "World-Building Creation". You can totally have two realms, or a real world and a dream world, or whatever you like in that regard. Though for this particular competition it's probably best to keep the scope of the world manageable.
