Adrian's Writing Panic

22 posts in this topic.

1. Have you ever been on a tight deadline? One hour left and no idea what to do whatsoever? The clock ticks down and the ending gets closer and closer. You're rapidly typing now, not sure if what you're writing has any quality or not. The deadline is just a few minutes away and you still need to enter in the title and press on the submit button, but time seems to be faster than you. By the time it's actually all said and done, you just barely managed to get it in on time. Surely you haven't.

Oh wait.

This is The Gladiator Workshop. Of course you've been on a tight deadline.

This tournament will be largely based around time and trust. Also timezones, in this case. I'll set up a writerfeedpad, updating the times that I'll be hosting and open on here. On that writerfeedpad, you'll be able to plot for sixty minutes (or fewer, if you are brave) and talk about your plot with other contestants. After the plotting, the fun will truly begin.

You'll have thirty minutes to write, in which I'll host a few word wars or maybe set up a timer. You can write out your entire story (yes, entire story) and then take a small break. Maybe you'll encourage everyone on, maybe you'll fret over the state of your story, but then you'll come back.

Then, the final part will be editing. This can take fifteen to twenty minutes. After all of this is done, you'll be paired up with someone who is also finished and you'll post your duel. After that, there will be two days to vote and then the entire process will start all over again.

Trust is important with this tournament. I trust that you will not submit a previously written work and that your work will be written and edited within the confines of the timeline.

Do you dare to join the panic?

Hopefully, this will start on 3/28/2016 16:00 GMT if everything works out.

EDIT: The new deadline for signing up is 3/30/2016 16:00 GMT!

EDIT: Due to popular demand, writing time has been increased to thirty minutes.

If you have any questions about how this will work, leave a message down below! I'm really excited about hosting this, so
2. I'm in I hate you
3. So, does it all have to be done in one sitting?
This sounds like it would be really fun, but it might be kind of hard for me to designate an hour and a half for it all at once...
4. This doesn't have to be done all in one sitting! You can join the pad and write with the rest of us (and we'll be doing this over the course of a day and no one has to stay through the entire thing) or you can simply write by yourself. As long as everything is done in the allotted amount of time, then you're good. So you could plot for forty minutes, take a break, and then plot for the remaining twenty.

Although, I would recommend checking out the pad for the prompts and the mini-prompts. Prompts will be posted here and so will all other important announcements, if anyone is wondering about that.
5. Okay. I think I'll give this a go then. :)
6. Okay, so since it's past the deadline, what's the new deadline currently? Because I think I might be able to do it if it's after the 30th.
7. Post has been updated with the deadline!
8. I would like to join
9. Let me at it then.
10. I hope I am not late? Count me in, if I am not!
11. I guess I'm signing up for the sake of balance!
12. The Panic Pad! I'd recommend checking this out just to say hi and talk to other contestants. I'll try to lurk there most of the time~ There are optional prompts in there as well, along with word wars.

The main prompt is: Prompt: November 27th

The duels are:
Tammi vs Ivywater
Ellstar vs AdrianMoon
Yams vs WritingWolf

When you have finished writing and editing your story, then please make a forum post with AWP in the title, the round name, and then the names of the person you're dueling with. So: AWP Round 1: Anon vs Anon

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know!

Let the panic commence. >:)
13. The deadline for submissions is 4/1/2016 16:00 GMT!
14. Voting on these two duels have started!

AdrianMoon vs Ellstar
Tammi vs Ivywater

Voting ends 4/7/2016 16:00 GMT!
15. Alright, so no one voted xD Which is cool. I'm thinking about either extending the deadline or maybe letting this fizzle off.

As the contestants, which would you all prefer?
